Has Version 1.3.11 been released yet? A couple people on the list here mentioned they installed it. The main site lists a projected release for early last month. I tried out v1.3.10 and am having problems with user authentication and path info. The crao and wordpress themes are very nice. Crao looks absolutely great on the creator's site in my browsers, but on mine it's stretched out a bit too much horizontally in IE and pages won't even display at all in Firefox. Wordpress shows up nicely in both, but it keeps crashing Firefox. I tried installing phpWiki's CVS version to see whether some of the bugs I'm hitting in 1.3.10 were fixed, but that one is causing a lot of SQL errors. Before I go off file by file trying to fix some of these bugs, I'd like to know if 1.3.11 is out or soon to be out. John S. |

OK, it's been quite a while since I last tried this, but I decided to have another go with 1.3.10. The error described below seems to be linked to the use of the Crao theme ... I set up from scratch, specified everything I wanted, and couldn't get the virgin wiki to load, although user authentication could be triggered OK. I switched to MacOSX theme, and tried again - no difference, even the theme stayed as Crao ... which wasn't what I expected. No, it wasn't the browse cache, the theme selection seems to be a cookie. Never mind, I used another browser, and this one loaded up perfectly, MacOSX theme, all pages up OK. So, and I'm sorry to say it sounds like "once again", Crao theme activity is implicated in phpwiki breakages. It sounds to me like there isn't a clean separation between core functions and the theme's actions. Well, I hope this gets someone thinking along the right lines for a fix of some sort :-) -jim On May 23, 2004, at 12:19 AM, Jim Cheetham wrote: > Yeah, I should say *when* I get the error :-) > It's during the "Loading up a virgin wiki" phase, the page renders > with %BODY% and the error message in the footer. I'm trying to get phpwiki up and running with a postgres database and I'm finding the documentation a bit sparse ... Here are my questions/comments so far: #1 Do I need to initdb with any special encoding? (I'm hoping that phpwiki creates all the tables it needs and with the correct encoding but I might be wrong). I want to use UTF-8, and have set config.ini to utf-8 but I am worried that I need to initialize my DB with UTF-8 encoding too ... In a perfect world phpwiki would create the tables using the encoding given in config.ini regardless of what initdb did. #2 How does one describe a DSN in the config file for a postgres DB running on the same machine as phpwiki? The config.ini file suggests: dbtype(dbsyntax)://username:password@protocol+hostspec/database But what is dbtype for postgres? pgsql? postgres? postgresql? And what is the 'protocol+hostspec' string? Adding more examples of DSN strings to the config file would be very useful for first time installers like myself. #3 From the above example for a DSN I assume that I need to create the DB myself? I didn't see anywhere in the documentation that said I needed to create a DB ... why can't phpwiki create the DB itself? Hi, this is my first posting, so: "Hallo at all!" I'd like to run a shellskript per cronjob, that dumps the wiki as xhtml and uploads to my internet-providers webspace per ftp. So reading of the wiki can be done on "real" webspace while editing, what will be done by only about 4-5 people, can be done on my pc at home. So my question is, how can i do the dump from a shellskript. Is that possible? Thanks for any hints Greets from Hamburg, Germany Sören |

these are my current user settings: ALLOW_ANON_USER = true ALLOW_ANON_EDIT = false ALLOW_BOGO_LOGIN = false ALLOW_USER_PASSWORDS = true I believe this should allow anybody to read the wiki, but have to log in with a user from the database in order to edit. However, despite the fact that allow_bogo_login, I am able to log in as existing wikipages. For instance, I can log in and edit as HomePage or RecentPages but not as AphidUser.. doing this does generate the following message but regardless, does allow editing. PHP Warnings lib/WikiUserNew.php:1360: Warning[512]: PersonalPage login method: * You stored an empty password in your 'HomePage' page. * Your access permissions are only for a BogoUser. * Please set your password in UserPreferences. |

You nee to change the display theme (in index.php) to the MACOSX one - I think that was in 1.2.4. To be honest, it was this nice theme, coupled with the edit/save-without-preview-necessary that made me choose phpwiki in the first place, and the Crao theme in the current versions (1.3.10+) that is keeping me! -jim On Aug 7, 2004, at 7:30 AM, Ajai Khattri wrote: > > I just installed 1.2.4 and was wondering how do I make my wiki look > like > the phpwiki page on sourceforge ? > > > (i.e. http://phpwiki.sourceforge.net/phpwiki/) > > > -- > Aj. > Sys. Hi John. All the below is just our experience, if it helps! To better exploit DocBook, I use the IncludePage (UnfoldSubpages should also work), with quiet=0 (which includes the page title), and have changed the stylesheet to have that IncludePage page title render as an h1... and i set html2db to respond to each 'h1' then as a new chapter. The same approach works with our (DocBook-sidestepping) use of htmldoc, to create full pdf's right from html without true DocBook in the intermediate step. Added benefits of true DocBook? 'list of tables' (for all 'caption'-ed tables), 'list of figures' (for all 'alt'-ed images), and index entries that auto-render (div tags, with indexterm:primary, indexterm:secondary, etc.). Thanks, and at least, I hope that helps you think about your scenario a bit! I have finally managed to do the upgrade. Pages dumped from 1.3.4, some=20 of them had no "markup=3D2;" line which made (possibly some of them; am=20 not sure) fail on loding into the new phpWiki. Fail means the load=20 would just display the name of the page being loaded and hang. I went=20 and added this line into dumped pages and it helped. The new 1.3.11 is working fine but: * the page rename doesn't rename subpages so they become orphans.=20 * the upload doesn't work; shows a message like this: =20 Fatal PhpWiki Error, lib\Request.php:601: Fatal[256]: Uploaded tmpfile illegal: C:\WINNT\TEMP/C:WINNTTEMPphpD.tmp !=3D=20 C:WINNTTEMPphpD.tmp. * Probably illegal TEMP environment or upload_tmp_dir setting. Actually, neither TEMP variable not upload_tmp_dir points to=20 c:\winnt\temp. Other than this, so far, it's very nice. Thanks, guys!=20 By the way, for those who are still struggling with the new wiki (as I=20 was for so long), I'm using the following config.ini (bottom of the=20 message). Reini, Here is another stab at fixing UnfoldSubpages... The problem is that the way it flows now, the options don't get used (and my DocBook stuff relies on them). Also, I'd like to add another parameter to UnfoldSubpages called divclass to optionally put the contenets of the plugin inside a user defined div tag. I'm attaching another patch to do that, called UnfoldSubpages_wish.patch :-) The reason for adding this is so that the html2db.xsl file can transform different plugin calls to differnt DocBook types (like one for chapter or prefix, etc)... I didn't know if it would be better to use class or id, it doesn't matter which one, but I'd like to add the same to the IncludePage plugin as well. ADODB is the experimental one, and SQL (PearDB) the stable one. Your mysql page table does seem to have a working auto_increment for the id column, which is not in the query. Maybe we should use "INSERT INTO page (id,pagename) VALUES(NULL,$pagename)" to use an explicit NULL value, which obviously is not used implicitly, but the number 0 instead. I'll test that. Which mysql version? PS: I found recently some charset bugs/problems in recent windows mysql versions, which need to be fixed also in phpwiki. http://bugs.mysql.com/?id=4398 -- Reini Urban http://xarch.tu-graz.ac.at/home/rurban/ |

To add custom tooltips from some kind of external database (hablar => "to speak") you have to look into the interwiki map linking code and add your logic there. It will not be supported by us. Best is to add this method to your custom themeinfo.php. So extend the Theme method linkExistingWikiWord() as it is done similarly in the 'MacOSX' and 'Portland' theme. > Will I need to create a dictionary database to get this done? When I use the 'Load & Overwrite' or the standard Upload in the phpwikiAdmin page, the oldest version of each page is loaded in and then I get this message (often multiple times for oft edited files): from MIME file [filename] has edit conflicts - skipped Sorry, cannot merge uploaded files. anyone know what's up here? cheers a |

Hello, trying to use phpwiki nightly build and php 5.0 final release. when i start the wiki like it runs with 4.3.8 i get the following errors ----------- Traceback: /www/mineralienatlas/htdocs/wikinew/lib/ErrorManager.php:322 /www/mineralienatlas/htdocs/wikinew/lib/XmlElement.php:519 /www/mineralienatlas/htdocs/wikinew/lib/XmlElement.php:519 /www/mineralienatlas/htdocs/wikinew/lib/ErrorManager.php:75 /www/mineralienatlas/htdocs/wikinew/lib/prepend.php:113 /www/mineralienatlas/htdocs/wikinew/index.php:32 lib/XmlElement.php:519: Fatal[2048]: Non-static method XmlContent::_quote() should not be called statically -------------- whats going wrong? The other php software like smf forum works fine, so php seems to run correct. do i have to compile something else in there? I want to add a new inline syntax, to make a word link to its dictionary entry. I would like to be able to type as the page source, for example: The Spanish word Spanish:hablar means to speak. I want "hablar" to be a wiki link to index.php/Spanish/Dictonary/Hablar, with a tooltip that says "to speak" and without the text "Spanish:" actually being displayed. I can get the link to happen by adding the line Spanish Spansh/Dictionary/ to the InterWikiMap page. This doesn't solve the tooltip problem, nor does it allow me to not display the "Spanish:" tag. Will I need to create a dictionary database to get this done? Is there already something similar in the code that I could use as a model? What functions should I be studying? -- AA Homepage: http://arthaey.mine.nu:8080/wiki/ PS -- I'm not actually creating my own Spanish dictionary; there are plenty of good ones already on the 'net. I'm documenting my invented language Asha'ille, so I'm the only dictionary-maker out there for this language. :) |

Hi, I started to probe around the code a little more, and haven't fixed it yet (I doubt I can) but I've got a little more info. Here's hoping a dev will come and fix it soon ;) To recap, admin sessions work perfectly. I have one user I entered into the Db myself (since WikiNewUser wasn't working) called "community". The browser accepts a session cookie, but phpwiki doesn't enter the data into the database correctly. The sess_data entry for the session looks like this: ---- 'wiki_user|O:13:\"_filepassuser\":11:{s:7:\"_userid\";s:9:\"community\";s:6: \"_level\";i:2;s:6:\"_prefs\";O:15:\"userpreferences\":4:{s:6: \"_prefs\";a:13:{s:6:\"userid\";O:15:\"_userpreference\":2:{s:13: \"default_value\";s:0:\"\";s:6:\"userid\";s:9:\"community\";}s:6: \"passwd\";O:15:\"_userpreference\":1:{s:13:\"default_value\";s:0:\"\";}s:9: \"autologin\";O:20:\"_userpreference_bool\":1:{s:13: \"default_value\";b:0;}s:5:\"email\";O:21:\"_userpreference_email\":1:{s:13: \"default_value\";s:0:\"\";}s:11:\"notifyPages\";O:22: \"_userpreference_notify\":1:{s:13:\"default_value\";s:0:\"\";}s:5: \"theme\";O:21:\"_userpreference_theme\":1:{s:13:\"default_value\";s:3: \"SDC\";}s:4:\"lang\";O:24:\"_userpreference_language\":1:{s:13: \"default_value\";s:2:\"en\";}s:9:\"editWidth\";O:19: \"_userpreference_int\":3:{s:13:\"default_value\";d:80;s:7: \"_minval\";d:30;s:7:\"_maxval\";d:150;}s:11:\"noLinkIcons\";O:20: \"_userpreference_bool\":1:{s:13:\"default_value\";b:0;}s:10: \"editHeight\";O:19:\"_userpreference_int\":3:{s:13: \"default_value\";d:22;s:7:\"_minval\";d:5;s:7:\"_maxval\";d:22;}s:10: \"timeOffset\";O:23:\"_userpreference_numeric\":3:{s:13: \"default_value\";d:0;s:7:\"_minval\";d:-26;s:7:\"_maxval\";d:26;}s:13: \"relativeDates\";O:20:\"_userpreference_bool\":1:{s:13: \"default_value\";b:0;}s:10:\"googleLink\";O:20:\"_userpreference_bool\":1: {s:13:\"default_value\";b:0;}}s:7:\"_method\";s:3:\"SQL\";s:7: \"_select\";s:38:\"SELECT prefs FROM pref WHERE userid=%s\";s:7: \"_update\";s:40:\"REPLACE INTO pref SET prefs=%s,userid=%s\";}s:15: \"_current_method\";N;s:14:\"_current_index\";N;s:5:\"_file\";O:11: \"file_passwd\":6:{s:8:\"filename\";s:23:\"/www/htpasswd/passwords\";s:5: \"users\";a:1:{s:9:\"community\";s:13:\"p0s/yKSwCtGrI\";}s:3:\"cvs\";N;s:6: \"fplock\";N;s:6:\"locked\";N;s:8:\"lockfile\";s:28: \"/www/htpasswd/passwords.lock\";}s:11:\"_may_change\";b:0;s:11: \"_authmethod\";s:4:\"File\";s:8:\"_authhow\";s:6:\"signin\";s:4: \"page\";s:8:\"HomePage\";s:6:\"action\";s:6:\"browse\";}' ---- It looks OK until it seems to close one hash table (sorry, don't know the PHP term) and then opens a new one related to the method (SQL) and containing some SQL commands (starts with: s:7:\"_method\";s:3:\"SQL\"). Those SQL commands look like ones found in config.ini managing auth and groups, though uncommenting / changing them doesn't make any difference. I can't get any further, because I can't work out how the variable $sess_data is generated (with a few echo statements, I found it's used in lib/DbSession.php.DbSession_SQL.write and that it's corrupt the moment write receives its data). I hope this helps, or maybe gives someone else an idea so we can debug this. Regards, Tom |

A little back ground to the problem: When I first set up the new server I noticed this problem existed with some themes and not with others. I spent about half an hour finding a theme that seemed editable. That theme seemed to work fine for a few weeks. Then I started to notice that every once in a while it would exhibit the problem below. Now it seems to do it all the time. I don't know where the problem lies, but it seems like the content in our edit form field gets duplicated a few times and jarbled up when it hits the server. The result of a bad edit might look like their are 3 or 4 copies of the page jammed together, a little mixed up. I greatly appreciate the advice of setting COMPRESS_OUTPUT to false. It was commented out in my config.ini and the comments around it did not indicate which way ( true or false ) the default is assumed to be. I set the option to false but the behavior did not seem to change. Anyone who has any advice is very welcome to contribute! Thanks!
