I am trying to make category membership in my Wiki very flexible, because I believe it will be important. As with other Phpwikis, I use a back-link to mean in-category. So, if the McDonald's page has a link to Restaurant in it, then McDonald's is a Restaurant. I encountered a problem: if I wish to refer to Restaurant in a link-ish way but not as category membership, I couldn't do it. So, if I wished to say on the HomePage "See our [Restaurant]s!" then HomePage would look as if it were a Restaurant. To solve this problem, I created a "half-link" character @, used like ~. Thus, I say "See our @[Restaurant]s!" and it links, but there is no back-link. I realize this may not work out well, but I thought I'd try it in our Phpwiki. I offer up the patch in case anyone else wishes to incorporate it. Comments welcome. As always, I would be glad if this (eventually) made its way to the Phpwiki mainline, but of course as time permits, if it seems right to you, etc. etc. Dan Frankowski |
