I just had the problem that I imported pagemaster
articles to article manager and because of an error
message I did this 2 times. In fact the import was
successful so now I have a lot of articles that should
be deleted. Unfortunately it is not yet possible to
delete more than one article at a time. Would be nice
if there is a checkbox next to the article which makes
deletion of more than one article possible.

When trying to import pagemaster pages and not having
installed the comments module the following error occurs:

SQL: SELECT cid,itemId FROM phpws_mod_comments_data
WHERE module="pagemaster"
no such table

It should be checked if the comment module is installed
and only then the query for comments should be started.

actually, I don't think that html area is a good solution. I
can include a img tag in my summary right now. but then,
that image would be shown in my actual article as well, not
only on the summary page, which would take away a whole lot
of flexibility.

besides, including the img tag in the text would take away
the possibility of using a distinct "section template" for
the summary as well. you know, the stuff where we show the
created by stuff, etc. won't be affected at all by the img
stuff. and that's the whole intention behind it.

you'll see the images in the search result as well, wether
you want them or not! I'd rather have the ability to decline
users from using img tags by themselves alltogether.

I already get nightmares by just thinking about on how the
newbies you referred to in the popular article refactoring
thread abuse the html area... Bah, I won't be able to sleep
tonight.

to me, the summary is just another section, like all the
others. so, instead of showing the "summary textbox", why
not just show yet another section box?

where exactly is the difference?

I even think, we should scrap the html area in sections and
restrict editing to:

- anchor tag
- ul / ol / dl tag
- li tag
- em tag for emphasis

...that's about it! no colours, no hard breaks, nothing.
maybe a code tag would be nice as well.

and do p /p around each paragraph... Everybody needs to have
dreams...

Adding image selection to the summary would require adding 4
textboxes, a button, image preview and template select list
to the form.  The editing form is pretty complex as it is. 
Adding all these extra things would make it unuseable.

In addition, the extra processing to show the summary would
put extra load on the server on homepage, FatCat, and Search
results views.

Once we find an editing solution like HtmlArea or Kupu that
will work reliably & work for blind users, these problems
will be bypassed.

Category thumbnails aren't flexible enough for a per-article
thumbnail. In fact, I don't like them at all. I'm talking
more about a "article tease". There is demand for that
feature, the two replies to the announcement on appstate
(http://phpwebsite.appstate.edu/index.php?module=announce&ANN_user_op=view&ANN_id=847)
eren't made by me.

Why complicated? Just upload yet another image, give it a
caption, an alt-tag, that's it. user-wise, it's rather
straight forward.

I can't think of a way to do that that won't make the
editing screen much more complicated.  There would have to
be a lot of demand for that feature before I can justify
putting that in.

Have you explored using the category thumbnails?

Hi! This ones bugging me since my first phpWebSite 
install, but I can't hunt it down. I even tried debugging 
Article Manager myself but got lost in it somewhere. 

When I finished writing a new article, I often enough 
announce it somewhere. All at once a couple of people 
jump directly to such a link (say, 
http://www.kiesler.at/article85.html) to read it. We're 
talking about 5 concurrent users or so here. 

Every time at least someone tells me, he got "I cannot 
view the article". When I jump directly at that article, 
with a freshly opened Internet Explorer, I'll get "This 
article cannot be viewed" as well. That doesn't happen, 
when the article is shown by clicking on it on my 
mainpage. The other thing: As soon as the 
message "this article cannot be viewed" appears, the 
categories of that article disappear as well.

had it again yesterday. I know now, why the fatcat-
categories are removed. As soon, as the message "cannot 
view" is triggered, the following call is made:

PHPWS_Fatcat::deactivate($this->id, 'article'); 

it doesn't make sense to me and seems to remove the 
categories for the current article. So I've commented it out.

Further more, I think, I know where the problem lies. The date 
check seems strange to me. You render the current time in a 
variable ($now=date('Y-m-d H:i:s')) and compare it with the 
publication date and expiry date ($this->publication_date <= 
$now resp. $this->expiration_date > $now). This seems odd, I 
don't have a good feeling on this check.

I've added a couple of debugging stuff and think, it will trigger 
around after midnight. I think, the pub and or exp date 
comparison won't work the way it should around then.

article 106 (emoticon-thread / phpwsforums). The page-
framework has showed, but the body-part was blank. 
Becaus i was warned (from one of your forum-threads) i

In any case, it shouldn't delete the category, should it? I've 
never heard of a database being overloaded, either. It would 
only handles request slower that way.

I haven't been writing about accessing articles at the same 
time. I've been writing about [i]new[/i] articles [i]sometimes
[/i] being jumpy. And accessing them from the frontpage 
works everytime as well.

So there must be some kind of weird bug somewhere. I could 
give you a couple of threads where this happened, but alas, 
they are all written german.

This is the single most annoying bug in whole of phpWebSite 
I've experienced. Ever. And I had it right from the start, I had 
it again for an article this week (can't remember which), 
which hadn't even a lot hits. But it was new. This seems to 
matter...

I don't know what could cause that to happen.  I've never
heard of it before.

I tried to make it happen on your site by hitting it with 3
browsers at the same time, but everything worked perfectly!

Most likely it's your database server.  If it got overloaded
and failed to return the data, you would get that error.

You're right.  There should be an URL for browsing through
the category tree, but again that would have to be through
the FatCat module.

What I suggest is that you put in an RFE for that feature at
https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=15539&atid=365539

Until they implement it (probably in ver 0.94), you can use
menuman to create a menu with a link for each category.

I am trying to install the theme Quick v1.02 on my phpwebsite 1.2.0.  I copied all the files to my themes directory.  When I try to apply to my phpwebsite in Control Panel, I get this error message:

I believe the Quick theme is for the phpWebSite 0.10.x series, not the
1.x.x series.  Themes from the 0.10.x series will not work as-is in the
1.x.x series.  No one has gotten around to converting it yet.  Sorry.

I am trying to install the theme Quick v1.02 on my phpwebsite 1.2.0.  I copied all the files to my themes directory.  When I try to apply to my phpwebsite in Control Panel, I get this error message:

I have 10 lists created which number 1 thru 10 with different names.
Lists 1-9 seem to work properly.

Whenever I send to list 10 however, it sends to list number 1.
The template that comes up is for list number 1, not list number 10
although the link calls out list=10.

Example of the list, address modified to mask.....
h??p://www.???.org/website/index.php?module=mailinglists&op=sendEmail&mladmin =0&list=10

The message comes with the header for list 1 which makes sense. So I can only
think that the 0 in 10 is being dropped somehow when the module is called.

Any help here would be appreciated.

I can go to the admin area for the lists, and select the list there and
send out a message.
The format/header page says it is list # 10, and it does indeed work
properly.
It still does not work properly from the user management page.
Any help would be appreciated.

You didn't mention what version you're using, but it appears to be out of
date since I've already fixed this bug.  Please see BUG 1264923 and BUG
1283077 and update your mailinglists version if necessary.

installed mailinglists module 0.5.6
using phpWebsite 0.10.2
and Documents module 2.2.10

After installing mailinglists it appears that the only way I can upload PDF files into the Documents module is to modify the mod/documents/conf/config.php file to define("JAS_DOCUMENT_TYPES", "all");

In my conditional types, it is shown as follows:
define("JAS_DOCUMENT_TYPES","text/plain,text/richtext,text/html,text/css,text/xml,application/octet-stream,application/postscript,application/rtf,application/applefile,application/mac-binhex40,application/wordperfect5.1,application/pdf,application/x-stuffit,application/zip,application/msword,application/vnd.ms-excel,application/vnd.ms-powerpoint,application/xml,application/x-gzip,application/x-gunzip,application/x-zip-compressed,audio/basic,audio/mpeg,video/mpeg,video/quicktime");

When JAS_DOCUMENT_TYPES is NOT "all", I get the following error when trying to upload a PDF into Documents:
"The file type binary/octet-stream uploaded was not an allowed file type."

Basically you associate a wiki page with a category, then when you view some other content in the same category, that wiki page makes it into the "What's related?" box as a link - but the link is the page title with all its words SmashedTogetherLikeThis (instead of being Smashed Together Like This). Anyway - quick fix: 

open /class/WikiPage.php

find the function _save()

Find this line:

and change it to this:

More Info - Posted this on phpwsforums.com

I have run into a strange problem in the language module....The word
"Title" was defined as "Title" in 5 seperate module language files, one of
which was Classifieds.

Changing "Title" to "Date" in Classifieds Language file made no difference
until I deleted all other instances of "Title" in the language for the
other 4 modules.

That fixed the problem in Classifieds, but now Title in the other modules
is Date, argh!

Re-importing the language for one of the other modules, changed Title back
to Title, but now the Classifieds is no longer "Date" but now is Title
again!

Even though there are 2 Title entries in the language, with different
modules listed for them, they all translate the same!

Is this a bug, or do I not understand what it should be doing.

I would expect the language module to translate "Title" as "Date" in the
Classifieds module, and as "Title" in the Contacts module.

Anyone have any ideas?

I've looked through my mod to be sure that all language is in actual
language statements and not as plain text (that would be a bug) and I
believe it is all correct, so, I'm not going to accept this bug report and
will close it.

That said, the language module can be a little strange. depending on your
browser, you may have to log out and in and out a few times, or even
completely close your browser and start fresh to see some language changes.
Also, if you don't have any data yet, you might be as well off to
un-install the mod, change the language file, then re-install it. To be
honest, this question might be best answered at phpwsforums.com ;-)

I have also tried to change the words "Contact", "Description", and
"Actions" by adding a "-" into the middle of the word.  After loading the
language file, Title and Description did not change, but Contact and
Actions showed up with the - in the middle.

This is really and odd one.

Summary: Trying to modify language file, fails for "Title"

Initial Comment:
I am using the English language file to 'alter' the names of fields and to supply examples of field entries.  This has been working just fine up to now.

I have just tried to change the field "Title" into "Date"  for display in the Browse page.  Nothing changes.
I have altered the name of the "Listing Title" on a new ad, and that works just fine.

I can't seem to get "Title" to change.
Any ideas?

Classifieds is saying "You must be a logged in user to submit new listings." even though the user is logged in.

"All users can apply - password will be emailed"

"All users can apply - immediate login"

"Only approved users can apply"

All Fail with same indication.

Turning User into Admin allows user to create an ad.

Changing the group does not seem to make any difference.

Validating the email address (mod mailinglists) makes no difference either.

Hi Rob,

The only file that has changed is Listing.php  So, in the Code menu above,
choose browse cvs and browse until you find the file. The download the most
recent version of it and replace your copy with the newer version.  Note: I
also put instructions if you want to change it yourself, in the post at
phpwsforums.com where this started. best luck :)

Thanks for the fast fix.

I am new to this, how do I apply the fix to my website.
Fixed in CVS, I understand, but do not know what to do.
