I have a setup using phpVirtualBox to control VirtualBox on an Ubuntu Server 18.04. It's been working well with access through my local network; eg. http://192.168.1.21/phpvirtualbox/.
But now I want to also use the server for the local testing of websites. After installing WordPress those test websites do work as expected, but not access to the phpVirtualBox login page. The IP that worked before now becomes "can't connect to the server".
I tried using port 18083 to limit access only to phpVirtualBox; eg. http://192.168.1.21:18083/phpvirtualbox/. No, that still ends again with "can't connect to the server".
If meaningful, my WordPress installation is not in the typical /var/www/html directory along with phpvirtualbox but in a separate directory /var/www/wordpress.
Any suggestions appreciated.

This is probably a dummie question, but…

Other similar setups like Plex that rely on using a port number still work after the WordPress install; eg. http://192.168.1.21:32400/web/index.html#. Also Transmission; eg. http://192.168.1.21:9091/transmission/web/. I though the same port approach would work with phpVirtualBox.
If meaningful, my WordPress installation is not in the typical /var/www/html directory along with phpvirtualbox but in a separate directory /var/www/wordpress.
