#1213 No tables found in database - can't import SQL into PHPMYAdmin

Hello, I have a website which Im setting up for a client on Hostgator.com
I have uploaded the wordpress site edited the wp-config file created the database, user and added privileges and when I get into PHPMyAdmin I would usually select the database so I can import the SQL file. It just says no tables found in database so I can import it.
Can you please tell me how to sort this out

I meant to say I cant import it!

In the grey bar on the top, can you click the "Server:" name there, afterwards click on the database name, then reach the "import" tab?
