it would be great to add the table comments on the
database overview page, in a column on the right of the
overhead column.

this is usefull when you're working on and switching
between several databases, where you have to recap
the function or use of every table. or just had a few
days of and have to dive into the structure again.

dunno if possible but adding field comments would be
nice too. that's probably not possible in mysql, but
maybe as an add-on in phpmyadmin...

is there a common way or api for 'expanding'
phpmyadmin with custom-built scripts and utils?

lbnl a 'favorites' mechanism for storing sql queries,
including comments. just a few ideas.

    That would make database page too big, which is not
    something what anybody wants.

    In DB view, we currently display some creation date
    information when the mouse is over the table name. Maybe it
    would be more interesting to display the table comments there.
    I agree with Michal about not cluttering the db view.
