When using long similar table and/or column names, it would be useful if previously used table or column names were available to select from. If I have already entered one_flew_over_the_cuckoos_nest, I wouldn't have to retype one_flew_over_the in order to enter one_flew_over_the_rainbow. It would speed up table creation.
Are you talking specifically about the table creation dialog?
The text boxes into which users enter table and column names. When a user
begins to type, I am suggesting a drop-down list of existing table or
column names that the user can select from, the same principal as when you
type into a browser, it displays a list of previously visited websites,
which narrows as you type. You can then choose/select from the list
without having to type in the whole address. If/where a user is using
similar naming conventions for table and/or columns, typing two or three
characters and then being able to select a previously enter table or column
name would be much quicker than typing it all, particularly if long table
or column names are being used.

Not exactly what you're asking for, but are you aware of the "central list of columns" feature?
No, not aware of it. Will look into it though, thanks.

See http://docs.phpmyadmin.net/en/latest/config.html?highlight=central#cfg_Servers_central_columns
The Storage database and table settings are all commented out by default.
Are the pmadb and central_columns the only settings that need to be enabled
for this functionality to work?
