I'd like to revert to the 'legacy' navigation pane layout. Is this still possible? If not, could you re-add it?
I don't want to waste space on other databases when I've already selected a DB.
Proposed change:
Modify the navigation tree to provide for pre-4.0 style database select box. But it won't be exactly same as old style, rather we will retain the database specific tree at table/view level, but for databases there will be select box. It will be usable by setting ShowNavigationAsTree configuration option to 'false'.
Which version do you consider 'legacy'? Pre-4.0?
The one with a databases dropdown followed by a tables list (if a database has been selected).

PR: https://github.com/phpmyadmin/phpmyadmin/pull/1469
Will be part of version 4.4.
pMA3 showed databases as a list when no databases was selected yet. Could this be implemented as well.
Olaf,
please open a new feature request because this one has been dealt with.
Sigh. Sure.
