Chad, that looks quite nifty... What program is that you're using for the RSS feed? Also, is it possible to have a third level of view after the events themselves, showing the comments to the events? Just day-dreaming... Jordan |

My code correctly handles multiple EXDATEs on the same line as well as multiple EXDATE= separated by line. I've also implemented the single changed events so if someone wants to download the CVS and test it out for me, I'd be much appreciative. I tested it myself but like proofreading one's own paper, it's never as good as someone else doing it. Now, on to finish search.php. -Jared On Friday, October 25, 2002, at 07:27 AM, Waitman C. hello i haven't looked at the code closely, however a pointer - keep in mind that multiple EXDATE lines are quite possible. EXDATE is not broken for me. It's just the single changed event that doesn't display properly, because there was never an EXDATE to delete it, so it's still displayed. Thanks for your efforts. phpicalendar is quite excellent! Jordan On Thursday, October 24, 2002, at 07:43 PM, Jared wrote: > As far as my testing goes, EXDATE still works properly. Oh, this uses RECURRENCE-ID instead of EXDATE to make the change. I hadn't experienced this before since the palm datebook just uses EXDATE and creates a whole new entry. Given that phpicalendar doesn't care about the relationships between events, this could just be interpreted as a request to delete the event occurrence that happens at the time of the RECURRENCE-ID and has the same UID and create the new event. This could be implemented without worrying about the order of the events in the file by deleting the event if it's already there, or otherwise creating a placeholder "black-hole" event in the master_array that the repeat code would notice and skip. As far as my testing goes, EXDATE still works properly. I didn't have to change anything. See this link: http://ical.silter.org/phpicalendar/ month.php?cal=Jareds32Classes&getdate=20021024 You'll notice that on the 1st and 2nd, and 18, and 21, I have no classes. I deleted the entries in iCal and they are EXDATEs in the .ics file. Please supply a full .ics file where this is broken so I can test the calendar myself while debugging it. I still have to implement single changed events, though. -Jared On Thursday, October 24, 2002, at 04:49 PM, Jared wrote: > Well, EXDATE should be honored. No, wait, here's the right stuff. Sorry... It looks like the way iCal implements the edit I made is to not include 10/24/02 as an "EXDATE" even though it should be. It puts my edit of 1-2:30 pm as a new entry entirely, so they are both displayed... Now that Jared's gotten search partially started, it looks like it would be a nice way to also do List view (or printer view). Inside the box we can be much more informative to the user, not needing popups, like so: Date: Wednesday, August 4th Time: 8:00 AM - 10:00 AM Summary: Film Showing Description: Garret's Film "The Suprise Party", is playing in Palo Alto. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ --------------------- Date: Wednesday August 4th - Sunday, August 8th Summary: Flying Home ------------------------------------------------------------------------ --------------------- Each view (day, week, month, year) will have a printer icon in the top nav on the left. It will link to the list view page and contain all the details above for that view . Day will only list that days events, week that weeks events, ect... We'll also need languages up to speed on this once we've laid out the pages. Just some ideas I wanted to jot down. :-) -C |

Both are known issues and are in the SourceForge lists. Multiple =20 calendars while possible presents certain issues pertaining to speed =20 and overlapping events, and will probably not be likely anytime before =20= 1.0. Because some people don't have access to the httpd.conf configuration file, they can modify their server configuration by adding a .htaccess file in the proper directory they want to modify. Just type this line in the .htaccess file: DirectoryIndex index.php index.html This could be explained in the phpicalendar README file. |

I would like to report a bug: =95 creating an iCal with repeating events displays correctly. However,=20= if a single occurrence of these repeated events is deleted, it will=20 still be displayed. Moreover, if a single occurrence of a repeated=20 event is simply shortened, both the shortened version and the normal=20 repeated version will be displayed for the same time slot. Please see the related screen shot: http://www.mit.edu/~jmil/phpicalendar_dualevent.jpg The "7.02 TA, Lab" event is a recurring event. The single occurrence of=20= this event on Thursday was modified to end at 2:30 pm, however the=20 repeated event is still displayed. Feature request: I don't know if this has already been mentioned or if there is a way to=20= do this, but it would be nice to be able to display multiple calendars=20= at the same time, in the same window, color coded... Jordan, this is not an issue on the browser end but on the server end. It actually is a configuration that needs to be done in httpd.conf (DirectoryIndex), but since there probably are other people that don't have access to the Apache configuration file it might be a good idea to add the proposed 'index.html' anyway. - David. -----Original Message----- From: php...@li... Chad, I had to change that at one point, because start and end times were not rounded the same way, which resulted in events that visually overlapped but actually (based on the real times) didn't. So at the moment start and end times are rounded following the same logic: - in draw_functions.php $sta_min = sprintf("%02d", floor($sta_min / $gridLength) * $gridLength); // same for end time i.e. all minutes are rounded _down_ to next grid point (e.g. :13 is rounded down to :00). My decision was based on the start time: better display the start of the event earlier than later... So, if we want to change that behaviour it's only to be changed in the 'drawEventTimes' routine, although - as mentioned above - it must be consistent for start and end times. All calculations for overlapping events are based on the returned drawTimes. David. -----Original Message----- From: php...@li... $text = ereg_replace("[[:alpha:]]+://[^<>[:space:]]+[[:alnum:]/]", "<a href=\"\\0\">\\0</a>", $text); He said he used the sample from the ereg_replace() man page. :) Basically, it's the same thing forum software does to make the URLs in posts clickable. -Jared On Tuesday, October 22, 2002, at 06:05 PM, Chad wrote: > That is cool, how'd you do that? That is cool, how'd you do that? It's one of the feature requests I believe. -C On Tuesday, October 22, 2002, at 03:28 PM, Bill Fenner wrote: > > I modified event.php to use the sample regexp in the php ereg_replace() > man page to make URLs clickable. I modified event.php to use the sample regexp in the php ereg_replace() man page to make URLs clickable. I just used '<a target="_new" ...' to open a new window, but at least with Mozilla 1.0 that creates a somewhat randomly sized new window; perhaps the better web designers among us can tell me how to do that right =) Here's a sample event - go to http://rtg.ietf.org/~fenner/test/phpicalendar/day.php?cal=billpub&getdate=20021018 and get the details of the 3:15 "Stanford Alumni Film Festival" event. What do people think about this change? Bill |
