ok. can do. i haven't noticed any problems or issues. i will look at the latest code and verify that it does indeed run. the one site using phpicalendar on a windows machine i have tried it on appears to function. I did change some stuff in the code, I only wanted month view on this particular calendar. I don't think that this would mess with anything though. Pretty much php on windows is php on mac is php on linux. Some of the filesystem functions behave differently, and obviously the paths are formatted differently. Some system level functions behave differently. do you guys know of a php lint or something that parses and documents your code, shows all the functions in a script with the earliest version of php they appeared in, and flagged if potentially non-portable? i would love to find something already out there, however i have thought about writing something to perform this service on my own. take care Waitman On Tue, 2002-10-29 at 20:32, Chad wrote: Who here runs PHP iCalendar on windows? Cool site. One suggestion: If you change "http: //www.cfac.org/opengov02/attyprogram.html" in the October 18th entry to "http://www.cfac.org/opengov02/attyprogram.html" (you have a space between ":" and "//") the link will become clickable... I'm happy that the EFF is using this software. I'm glad to give something back for the help Robin Gross had given me in the SonicBlue (ReplayTV) vs. Paramount, et al. case (I was subpeona'd for Planet Replay). Thanks! No need, my friend. As long as you define('BASE','Someval') before the parser is called, it cannot be reset by another define(). This is the magic that is "constants." We just need to make sure all includes are using BASE and it will work fine. The initial script calling the parser just needs to know where PHP iCalendar is so all the includes will work correctly. This is why it's OK to have a define() in every script, to guarantee BASE is being set. If it's set in another script, before it's called, that's the value and it cannot be overwritten. Each script should have BASE set in it so that particular script knows where the root of the phpicalendar directory is. Each should define BASE at the very top since the BASE will then be defined by the script called from the browser and will not be changed. -Jared On Tuesday, October 29, 2002, at 02:06 AM, Chad wrote: > So I've been trying to get a block to work on php-nuke. So 0.9 will be a ways off, 2-3 weeks at least, as most of the features are major pieces of work. Soo.... We should plan on an interim bug-fix only release. Jared and I will keep up with new bugs this week and when it seems clear, do a 0.8.5 release or something like that. Please test CVS and keep us up to date on bugs -- and your fixes for them. :-) -C |

So I've been trying to get a block to work on php-nuke. This requires having a small script outside of phpicalendar. Ive found that calling the parser outside requires me to define a new BASE and comment out the BASE in the parser. Should we.... if (!isset(BASE) { define... } Ideas? Calling the parser anywhere would be cool, and it should work internally without modification too. -C |

I had Apache/PHP running on the server. Turns out, the directories didn't have the correct permissions when I uncompressed them. They were world readable, but not world executable. And in Linux, to read a directory you have to be able to "execute" it...go figure. Anyway, thanks for the help. It's running great now! Now to learn some more about .ics files... :-) Thanks again! Web Sharing is a Mac OS X thing. Turning Web Sharing on is the same as=20= turning your web server software on. In Mac OS X, it's just one button.=20= We have those instructions aimed at OS X users because the two main=20 developers (myself and Chad) are OS X users and our initial target=20 audience is Mac users who are using Apple's iCal. So, don't worry about that part. If you know how to turn your web=20 software on, then you're all set. If not, I'm sure you can find some=20 instructions out there for your particular system. The instructions could also read: 1) Put PHP iCalendar into your web path and start your web server=20 software. We just went more in depth for OS X users. I will change the README to=20= note this to avoid future confusion. -Jared On Monday, October 28, 2002, at 02:01 PM, Jon Mark Allen wrote: > I just discovered phpicalendar today.=A0 Great idea!!=A0 I think this = will=20 > be perfect for what I'm trying to do.=A0 However, I am (unfortunately)=20= > completely unfamiliar with Macs and, hence, have no idea what Web=20 > sharing is?=A0 (BTW, I'm running Mandrake Linux 9.0)=A0 I read in the=20= > README file to enable Web Sharing if it wasn't already, but I have no=20= > idea what it is and/or where to look.=A0 I searched in the FAQs, but=20= > didn't find anything regarding this question. > > I've uncompressed the files to the desired location and edited=20 > config.inc.php to reflect the correct path, however when I go to the=20= > phpcalendar/index.php page, nothing comes up? > > Any help would be greatly appreciated. > > Thanks! > > Jon Mark > |

No, we do not have a regular backup schedule yet. That is something we should do. Chad has been working on it this week so it wasn't in 0.7. It will be in 0.8 though. If you download what's in CVS, you will see an "rss" directory. That's where the RSS feed is being generated.
