Definately a PHP problem, sounds like the MySQL database component
of PHP is not there, which is strange. If the problem was a connection
problem,
it would have given a different error message.
I'm using Red Hat 7.0 and everything was included. Did you use the rpm from
the Red Hat 7.1 cd to install PHP?
