I've just installed phphelpdesk in /usr/local/apache/htdocs. I'm running RH 7.3, mysql 3.23.51 and php 4.2.2 on a PII 300 PC. I'm also new to linux. I'm having a problem with the permissions associated with the admin functions of adding departments and users, deleting tickets, assigning tickets, etc. The problem is browser independent. I'm using I.E. 6.0, Netscape 4.76.0.11, and Mozilla 1.0. I've tried to gain some functionality by adding my username to the root group and adding my username to the permissions on the apache and mysql directories with show, write, enter, and special classes selected. When I try to add a new department, the error message states that I do not have root privileges. When I try to add a new user, the error message tells me that I do not have administrative privileges. I added my username to the security table with the same options as admin. (By the way, admin works the same.) If you could nudge me in the right direction or tell me what to read, I'd appreciate it.
