After xmas/birthday/etc, some mechanism to delete the items that were bought and marked as such. As is, you have to get the gift recipient to go in and manually delete them, which is error prone.
Good plan. But there's a problem: what if you go to purge
right after Christmas but you (unknowingly) haven't received
all your gifts yet? Then you'd find out what you were going
to (shortly) receive.
