To enter someone in the Shop For category, they need
to be in the users table. Would like to remember my
presents for entire family, incl Grandma and little
nieces/nephews who have not registered themselves.

So, want to populate the users table without having to
register. Registering is easy, though, and forcing people
to register eliminate the possibility of entering the same
person in the table multiple times.

Hmmm, I could file this under the web-based user
administration. Then you could create a user for that
person without their knowledge, I guess. But then who would
have the authority to add items for that person?

If you're only tracking presents for yourself to give to other
people, you would approve the authority yourself. However,
since this unsuspecting person will now be in the users table,
others will be able to see them as well. After they request
permission to shop, the actual gift receiver will be out of the
loop completely! Maybe self registration is the better way...

I like the idea but not the implementation. I think it would
be nice to be able to add non-users. These non-users would
automatically be in your shop for list. An option to move a
non-user to a user would be good for the future and an
option to share these non-users with others would be good too.
