Dear PhpESP users, About a week or so ago I posted a feature request on the sourceforge site and it was there for a day or two, but it is now gone. What does that mean? Has it been implemented in the new pending version (1.5)? Or does it mean that it was deleted as being silly or something? The request was a simple one: that another type of question be made available (True or False). I've tried to adapt the existing "Yes/No" type to fit my needs, but it's obviously not what it was made for. Additionally, I would like a survey that contains *both* Yes/No and True/False questions, so I really would need two different types. Does that make any sense? I cruised the archives and didn't see anyone else asking about this, so I apoligize if this is a repeat issue. This was a known bug. It has already been fixed in the CVS tree. Hi, I noticed this the other day too. It is a problem with ppl selecting "other" on check boxes. The line in the code contains val[] = $cid (or something like that). changing it to $val = $cid fixed the prob for me. Dunno if this is correct and I'm in a rush to get to a meeting on time - but it will help point you (or whoever is fixing the bug) in the right direction. Hi James, I did get the 1.5 version from CVS - and I found the instructions for configuring the paths to things confusing (although with some trial and error I seem to have it sorted now). I showed it to a couple of friends who are more experienced with Linux and PHP, and they couldn't work out what was required for the different paths either :) Claire On Mon, 16 Sep 2002, James E. The format of the INI has been changed somewhat for v1.5, and should be more understandable. You could get the code from CVS if you need it now, or wait for v1.5 to be released ... which should be Real Soon Now. -James On Fri, 13 Sep 2002, Claire Hurman wrote: > Hi, > > Could someone send me an example of their phpESP.ini file? Isn't that already done? Please take a look at the handler-prefix file. Hello Jason hello James, To record the IP would be a very interesting way - Is it possible to record the IP adress and store it in the db? Hello there! I just wondered if anybody knew if it was possible to record anonymous user's IP address in the database once they have submitted a form. I would like to create an anonymous poll with phpESP but would like to be able to prevent duplicate entries by at least recording people's IP number. I could then parse the data afterwards to see if there had been any duplicate submissions from the same IP address. It doesn't seem to be possible to prevent anonymous users from submitting duplicate entries, but I think the approach that I mentioed above should be good enough for my purposes. Any ideas about how to do this? I am a total novice with PHP and MySQL so please be gentle with me . Regards, JPP |

Are you sure it's not a problem with your Win98 setup? That certainly is not a phpESP message, and doesn't sound like something the web server would return (unless it is a HTTP Auth box). Does it show up in your browser, and if you hit cancel do you get a 403 Authorization Required screen? You have tried the default login for phpESP I assume? -James On Thu, 12 Sep 2002, Bill Klopping wrote: > I am probably missing something very simply, but here > is my problem. What kind of page is your php tag that calls the survey in? I originally ran into this when I was trying to stick the survey tags into a .html file. Apache didn't like that because it doesn't run those through mod_php...so I eventually changed survey.html to survey.php and it worked fine. I assume that since the admin pages are working that you're server is parsing php files correctly. Did your server post any messages in the access or error logs that might be useful to see? If you want it *now* just use the files as they are out of CVS. You can get instructions from SourceForge on how to get the CVS version of a project, specifically here: http://sourceforge.net/cvs/?group_id=8956 under "Anonymous CVS Access". Or you can wait a few days for v1.5 RC1 (release candidate one) to come out. [ Note: A "few days" is intentionally vague. There are no definite timelines for this project, in fact there is no timeline at all. I am a student, and this is a "spare time" project for me. Hi, I really want to use the new export to CSV and human readable emails features of v1.5. I only have basic PHP knowledge, enough to get things installed if they have good documentation. I've tried downloading the latest version, and adding some of the development versions of specific files, but I made a mess of it, and now the damn thing won't work at all. I'm going to install it again. Can someone either tell me where I can download all the files required for v1.5, or which individual files I should grab for the features I want? Thanks Claire |

I am reviewing some code for the upcoming release of phpESP v1.5. In the designer permissions there is the field labled "Export Survey Data," which isn't really used in practice. Basically, if a user Joe owns a survey (ie. was the creator of it), then Joe can export and download data, and view the online results. Back when I was making the various permissions a designer could have I was thinking that this should really be called "View Survey Data," and even a survey owner would not be allowed to see the data for a survey they created. The logic being that some surveys may contain sensative information, and it might be desireable to let anyone create a survey, but not activate it and get the data. I want feedback from anyone who actually uses the whole permissions scheme on how it works and doesn't work, and what you think of the "data access" issue above. If no one uses permissions, that would also be nice to know. So if you have a second to answer three yes/no's then hit the survey below. http://phpesp.sf.net/demo-current/survey.php?name=permuse http://phpesp.sf.net/demo-current/survey.php?name=permuse&results=1 Thanks! -James PS. If anyone would like to make any surveys like this one (about the use of phpESP) go to: http://phpesp.sourceforge.net/demo-current/ |

Hi All - I don't see this functionality from the admin interface, so I'm = guessing it doesn't exist, but is there any way to import questions to a = survey from an external file? I'm working on a survey that has a lot of = questions that are similar (similar options, etc.) and I'd love to be = able create the question file in Perl and then just upload it... If I'm right that this function doesn't exist, would anybody mind if I = put it in as a feature request?=20 -John |

Sorry, but it's not currently possible to limit anonymous users to a single vote. On Thu, Sep 05, 2002 at 10:38:06AM +0800, Jason P. Pickering wrote: > Hi there! Hi there! I am new to phpESP and would like to know how it is possible to prevent anonymous users from voting more than once. I looked through the documentation as well as the mailing lists archives, but couldn't really find a good answer anywhere. Can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks, Jason Pickering |
