Initial Comment:
A new question type should be added to the question types. That 
would be a rank question. Let's say you have 10 different things that 
you'd like a respondent to rank from 1 through 10. Then a specific 
rank question would be needed.

My suggestion is having 
the 10 options in a list on the left side in a randomised list and in the 
middle have arrows to move options to a right field, one by one. In the 
right field an exact same formed type of field is but where the option 
get's placed. Also what would be good is if you can mark an option 
and have arrows on the right side of it and move it up or down in the 
list.

"Rate" won't work because it will allow the user to chose
value "1" for more than one item in the list.  We want to
force the user to rank items in their preferred order, so
they chose a definate number 1, 2, 3, etc.  
An example question would be similar to:  

Place the following chores in order of preference:
Doing Laundry
Doing Dishes
Dusting
Cleaning Gutters

Two things.

1. This is a very important type of question for political
surveys (e.g. in Northern Ireland). You can analyse the
results either by a de Borda count or by Condorcet
comparisons. Mathematically it is a very subtle way of
probing opinions (see Social Choice Theory articles in
social choice journals).

2. A simpler interface is to present the options in a list
box, and have an up and down arrow that you use to move
options up or down the list. I have already written
JavaScript code to do that.

unemployed people)

I'm open 
to suggestions on how to solve it. Most commercial software use to 
boxes where you check on the left side and move them to the right side 
and the right side becomes the preference. Randomisation is not 
necessarily needed, just an extra function, should be able to display 
items alphabetically too...

Why can't you use the existing question type: rate(1..5) with 
the length set to 10?
I still can't understand the need for randomisation of  survey 
question choices. Don't get me wrong, randomisation is a neat 
feature if we were dealing with an online assessment/test but a 
survey?

Well, sorry,  I'm speak english very bad but I hope that

I'm spanish person and I want use the phpEsp in these 
language. With the documentation of the program
(phpESP), I understand that i need library of 
php "gettext".

I'm working with Windows200, apache and php 4.3.3., 
and i see php.ini and I have in these archive 
(in "extensions" section) the line 
with "extension=php_gettext.dll" without ";", I suppose 
that it's not sufficient becouse when I modify the 
archive "phpESP.ini.php" the line "$ESPCONFIG
['default_lang'] = 'en_US';" for "es_ES" or "es" the 
programa continuous in english.

Please, somebody can help me?

combined total in the bottom right corner does not
equal the total of the column or bottom row totals.

2. It would be very useful to hve the option to be able
to display the cross-tabulated results as percentages.

3. It would be useful of the URL could be in the "Post"
format so that people could INCLUDE the resulting table
in other pages.

Access to the DB using the configured user/passwd via pgsql
is ok.
Issuing the command that retrieves the user in the psql it
worked fine. I solved the problem by altering the user's
grant. I gave the user 'superuser' rights by issuing "ALTER
USER unox1 CREATEDB CREATEUSER".

Once a survey has been created, It would be helpful if
while the survey is in editing mode there would be a
way to change the owner of the survey.  The only way i
see to do it now is to go and edit the survey table in
the database.  Maybe locking this permission down to
only group admins would be of better use as well?

Once a survey has been created, It would be helpful if
while the survey is in editing mode there would be a
way to change the owner of the survey.  The only way i
see to do it now is to go and edit the survey table in
the database.  Maybe locking this permission down to
only group admins would be of better use as well?

After reading the grippings of the copyright issues, I figured I would be
on the safe sign and make the slight modification to the instance I am
using.  The redesign link I posted recently has been updated to reflect

In all seriousness, we don't need to rename phpESP, we just need to make=20
sure that "Easy Survey" always has "php" in front and "Package" after.=20
I am pretty sure everything in CVS conforms (I did that back in '02 when=20
Mr. Rao first griped).  Most of the web pages from the '02 era also=20
conform; I'm not sure that the FAQ, and other newer pages do.  I don't=20
really want to yank the redesign preview pages, but all the=20
non-conforming text is in images so it cannot be quickly fixed.  Maybe=20
for now I'll chmod the images to be unreadable, and if anyone cares=20
enough to fix them I'll re-post them.

We certainly could redefine phpesp, but lets keep those letters since=20
Kon graciously sponsored (or did you ever get reimbursed?) the=20
phpesp.com/phpesp.org domains.

Any offending images will be chmod'd tomorrow, pending any other input.
