I have Firefox 1.0.7 as well, and I don't see this behaviour at all. Usually when everything goes dark like that the cascading style sheet can't be found (in this case admin.css). Have you checked Firefox to see if it is loading the style sheet? You should be able to do this by right clicking on the page and going to "View Page Info"; use the 'links' tab.
