Sorry, lack of computer/internet access got me again.
I did not do any specific configuration in PHP. I have had up to 27000 peers on a test tracker and did modify some things related to the TCP stack in linux thanks to a dsl modem not up to the task…
Other than that, running something like eaccelerator can greatly help CPU usage under high load.
