I have begun to implement Smarty. It's great because it separates the backbone of the system from the HTML display. It will also make it possible for users to create or implement their own styles. This feature will obviously be looked into in the future

The phpAuth first alpha release is ready. The file release system is down but once it is back online, these files will be made available.
