[Php-java-bridge-users] Is the PHP-Java bridge a tool for developers, or end users?

Hi there!

I'm a bit knowledgeable about PHP (PHP3 :), and I'm a Java advocate (read
that as: "maintained the OS/2 Java FAQ in 1996 back in the Java 1.0 days,
believes Java is the right way to develop software, and runs several
desktop Java apps daily on both Linux and Windows").

Having made that introduction... I've been trying to explore if running the
latest greatest Joomla 2.5 CMS coded in PHP is possible under a Java web
server.

A lot of searching (and a lot of reading about tweaks and quirks when
trying to use Joomla 1.5 over Quercus) led me finally to this
php-java-bridge project. However, from a quick glimpse it seems this only
works if one accepts heavily tweaking the source PHP code.

So, my $1M dollar question would be: is this technology just for
developers, or can I, after some initial configuration, finally run Joomla
2.5 "as is" under a J2EE server like Caucho's Resin, for instance?.

Hi. Servlet spec days that you can't use a writer and the Outputstream at
the same time.

So your code must check if one is available and possibly use the other as a
fallback.

Please solve the conflict as usual. Either use your own OutputStreamWriter
or grab the writer early and force the library to use its own.

Can someone provide insight into importing a Java jar into a PHP application ? I am trying to instantiate an object I developed called SubscriberTrace which is packed in a Java jar.  I have the ST.jar file located in the JavaBridge/java directory.  I get the following error:

I'm facing some problem as follows

I've passed some hard-coded variables through filter rather than Servlet base and it's going OK, on other hand once I try send String variable its not.

So, what is the main problem for this.

[Php-java-bridge-users] need help to solve OutOfMemoryErrors exception

When ever i run the my php program i got below exception, in my php code i
called java classes it working but after some time it give me
OutOfMemoryErrors exception
to solve this problem i used this command "java -Xmx1000M  -jar
HelloWorld.jar SERVLET:8087 " but still getting below exception.


Fatal error: protocol error: ,Invalid document end at col 28. Check the
back end log for OutOfMemoryErrors. in

[Php-java-bridge-users] Session sharing with Spring services

Hi

I am using the bridge to communicate with Spring beans on the server side :

 return $ctx->getBean($name);
}

and then I call methods on the bean - All works ok

Now I want to pass on the name of the current user, so I added : $session->put("username", $username);

Now how do I get at this on the server side - I have tried

ServletRequestAttributes attr = (ServletRequestAttributes) RequestContextHolder.currentRequestAttributes();
HttpSession session=attr.getRequest().getSession(false);
String username= session.getAttribute("username"));

but this only leads to an Exception: No thread-bound request found: Are you referring to request attributes outside of an actual web request

Is there any utility method in the bridge, where I can get at the current session/request

I've been building an app using the iText library for PDFs. So far so 
good. Except now I'm getting this error with the following code:

     $pdffile = '/home/beau/pdf/public/pdfs/IN.pdf';

         java_require('/home/beau/pdf/iText/itextpdf-5.2.1.jar');

         $PdfReader  = new java('com.itextpdf.text.pdf.PdfReader', $pdffile);

         $PdfStamper = new java('com.itextpdf.text.pdf.PdfStamper');

         $version    = new Java("java.lang.Character", '0');

         $stamper    = $PdfStamper->createSignature($PdfReader, $output, $version);  //<-- error here            $stamper->close();

     }

     catch(Exception $e){

         $e->getMessage();

     }

}


The error that's getting thrown is when I call the 
$PdfStamper->createSignature( ... ) method. The $version (I guess) needs 
to be a char type, and I'm pretty sure it is, but it still throws the 
conversion exception:

Java Exception com.zend.javamw.a: Cannot convert 0 of type [class java.lang.Character] to char
com.zend.javamw.a: Cannot convert 0 of type [class java.lang.Character] to char
	at com.zend.javamw.n.b(Unknown Source)

Any help would be appreciated.  :D

 I use iconv function to the parameter and it works well.
 iconv('GBK','UTF-8',$parameter)

Please set the java back end to utf 8 (or 16) and save the php file in the
same format. Use the java_set_file_encoding() function, if necessary.

I think earlier versions contained a bug when getbytes(<enc>) was called.
Please check the changelog and NEWS file of your version (part of the
source download).

However, using the same encoding at both ends should fix it.

I use php-java-bridge-4.0.7 to invoke java function in php program at linux system.
  
 but the parameter of Chinese string in php program is changed in java function.
  
 The code is at the below.
  
 $myj = new Java("PdfConvertor");
$myj->generatePDFWithWatermark('/tmp/08.pdf','/tmp/a.pdf','中国通信标准化协会','center');
  
 The 3th parameter of the function generatePDFWithWatermark is Chinese.
  
 But the java class runs normally in terminal.
  
 I set parameters about encode to GBK in the file /etc/profile and php.ini.But it doesn't work.
  
 what's my problem?
