Massive updates for you tonight! First off, pGina 1.7.7.4 (Biff Sr) BETA is available here <http://pgina.xpasystems.com/downloads/pGina177.4-BiffSrBeta.zip>. Note that this installer requires you have 1.7.6 or a previous Beta installed first. This *should* fix a bunch of the screensaver issues people are having (note you may have to set your login screensaver timeout to less than 2 minutes), and adds roaming profile support and a login script option. Eric explains the new login script option thusly (explanation of the new roaming profile options are included on the page for his FTP plugin <http://pgina.xpasystems.com/plugins/pgftp.php>): "The logon script text box should be self-explanatory--it can specify any executable or batch file to run, along with parameters, when the user logs in. The script will execute after the profile is loaded (i.e. in the code it is called in WlxActivateUserShell()). The path can be local, UNC or a mapped drive (as long as the user has sufficient rights to execute the file). The command line can include any environment varibles normally available to the user, as well as the special pGina variables %USERNAME%, %MACHINE%, and %PASSWORD%. The latter offers a little more flexibility in situations where Windows authentication isn't used on the network. " Secondly, thanks to the hard work of Eric Parsons of U. Calgary, not only did he get the roaming profile and login script support added to pGina, but he created a plugin which stores users profiles on an FTP server in a nice small Zip file! Thats right, use the Chaining Plugin <http://pgina.xpasystems.com/plugins/chain.php> to chain another plugin <http://pgina.xpasystems.com/plugins/> with the FTP <http://pgina.xpasystems.com/plugins/pgftp.php> plugin he created and you can authenticate against a single source AND store your profiles on a central server. All the handiness of a domain/ad without the cost or proprietary requirements! Our thanks to Eric and the U. Calgary for their continued work and support. You too can support enhancements and fixes like these by donating time or money, for the former, email me <mailto:nat...@xp...> and for the latter, click that PayPal link you see at the top right of the pGina page or the bottom of this email- No PayPal account required to donate! Last and certainly not least is Jason Kitka's addition of a Webauth <http://pgina.xpasystems.com/plugins/webauth.php> plugin to our repetoire. Using his .NET based plugin you can authenticate against any standard URI. Initially designed and used for Bluesocket authentication, this is an extremely useful plugin! Thanks Jason! Okay, I lied.. that wasn't the last item. I am also pleased to announce that thanks to your donations and several people contracting my time for pGina coding, I have been able to save enough money to purchase an MSDN Professional Subscription for a year for myself. This gives me access to more Windows platforms, example code, documentation and support, allowing me to continue to give YOU the user a product that is not only free, but invaluable! Remember, YOUR support makes this possible, whether it be $5, $100 or an hourly contract for programming, Remember - YOU make the difference. Thanks! Nathan Yocom pGina Code Monkey, nat...@xp... |
