Using Mac OS X version 10.4.7.
Whenever I try to run this command in the terminal:
perl /Applications/perlprimer-1.1.13/perlprimer.pl

I get this error message:
PerlPrimer v1.1.13
Copyright ? 2003-2005 Owen Marshall

Error: Perl/Tk not found!
PerlPrimer requires Perl/Tk to run - please download
from CPAN (http://cpan.org) and install before running.

Perl TK is there. It is brand-new. It is in the folder
/Applications/perlprimer-1.1.13. I put it in
/Applications, got the same message. I put it in
/Library, got the same message. What should I do with
the folder TK-804.027 to make perlprimer recognize it?

You'll need to extract the Perl/TK archive, open a terminal
and change to the extracted Perl/TK folder. Issue the commands:

    perl Makefile.pl; make; make install

(you may need to "sudo make install" for the last command -
I don't have any experience of OSX myself, unfortunately)

If those commands are successful, then PerlPrimer should
    work fine.

    Hope this helps,
    Owen

      Hi Nahid,

Download is working fine for me; maybe try another mirror on the download
      page?

      Best wishes,
      Owen

        Hi Owen.

Any plans for updating perl primer? It hasn't connected to the databases for a while and I'm really missing this program!

        Hope this reaches you well,

        Terry

It's a little late, but if anyone's interested I've just fixed the code and made perlprimer Ensembl-compatible for good (using Ensembl's new REST API that they recently created).

I'm in the process of moving everything over to github, but the working code (v1.2) is available at:

          https://github.com/owenjm/perlprimer

          Cheers,
          Owen

    Hi,
I'm using windows 10. However, the perlprimer say that the apps can't locate Tk. I already try to reinstall the application for several times.

    I get this error message:
    PerlPrimer v1.1.21

Design primers for PCR, Bisulphite PCR, QPCR (Realtime), and Sequencing

This windows is required for PerlPrimer to run-
you may minimise it but please do not close it

Please wait while PerlPrimer loads ...
    Can't locate Tk/AddScrollbars.pm in @INC (@INC contains: C:\Users....\AppData\Local\Temp\par-......\cache-perlprimer_tmp\inc\lib C:\Users....\AppData\Local\Temp\par-.....\cache-perlprimer_tmp\inc CODE (0x4be9628) CODE (0x4be9814)) at Tk/Widget.pm line 270.

    Could you help me?
