Hello all, Our latest page shows simple and advanced uses of the Perl HERE document quoting mechanism. : If you're tempted to write multi-line output with multiple print() : statements, because that's what you're used to in some other : language, consider using a HERE-document instead. : : Inspired by the here-documents in the Unix command line shells, : Perl HERE-documents provide a convenient way to handle the : quoting of multi-line values. http://www.perlmeme.org/howtos/syntax/here_document.html Regards, Simon Taylor -- Unisolve Pty Ltd - Melbourne, Australia +61 3 9568 2005 |

Hello everyone, We have a new FAQ on directory listings. This FAQ shows you how to open and directory and read all the names of the files and sub-directories within it. The FAQ also shows a few common examples of filtering the file and directory names. For example, you may want to get a list of all the files and not any sub-directories, or you may want all the files that begin with a period, or end with .txt. The URL for the new FAQ is: http://www.perlmeme.org/faqs/file_io/directory_listing.html If there is any content you would like to see please don't hesitate to suggest it. Hello all, You can now search perlmeme.org For example, if you go to: http://www.perlmeme.org/tutorials/ and enter the word "form" in the search box, you'll be supplied with a quite useful results page. The package we've used is"swish-e" which comes with a nice CGI search program written in Perl, naturally ;-) Please let me know if you encounter any problems with this new functionality. I'm planning to implement a few minor page re-design issues before we go public with the site. Even in our current un-announced beta state, Google has found the site, and we are now seeing an interesting amount of traffic from all over the world. Regards, Simon Taylor |

Perlmeme.org is now hosted on a dedicated server. This means we have greater flexibility in what we can run on the server and in what the perlmeme.org site can offer. The bread-crumbs trail (top and bottom left hyperlinks) is now fixed on the new server. Thanks to Offer Kaye for pointing it out. The contents of perlmeme.org to date have been imported into the SourceForge cvs repository. The module name is 'perlmeme'. See the instructions at SourceForge on how to check it out. In general you won't receive announcements like this on this list. Instead you will receive notification when a new page is available on the perlmeme.org website. Regards Becky |
