You could make it "incremental" if you first use large values for the deletion policies (example 100 days) and then reduce this value at every cleanup step. Database server tuning can help - but in this case large delete operations will take some time. Another idea could be to make it the other way round: If you want to delete 90% and keep 10% of the data, then it could be better to copy the data you want to keep in a new database. This requires some sql knowledge and some understanding of the perfparse table schema. Flo |

Hi, the --no_transactions switch was made for people that have no innodb table type. You can try. If you disable inserts, transactions are not needed. If you did not cleanup your tables for a long time (or never) i would set the deletion policies only for one host, run a purge, add another host, run purge ... If you cannot clean a host at once try to make your delete policy longer (100 days or more) first. I had these problems first too, but since i clean every hour, problems are gone. Hi, The PHP interface will have full functionality in the next version of Perfparse. At 106.1 this part simply was not finished. I think it depends on how long the cleanup lasts. I'm not sure, but i think mysql uses table locks and data inserts hang until the table is unlocked. So if the cleanup takes hours you might have a problem with nagios creating hundreds of processes waiting to insert data. You can also let nagios write the data in a file meanwhile and make a script to feed the data later to perfparse(d). So you have a problem compiling perfparse? It looks like all needed libs are installed, but it seems that you use the gd from opensuse 10.2 and gd-devel from Suse 10.0. This can work, but it has not to work. If you use Opensuse 10.2, then deinstall gd-devel and install one of thes= e: 32 Bit: http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/10.2/repo/oss/suse/i586/gd-deve= l-2.0.32-49.i586.rpm 64 Bit: http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/10.2/repo/oss/suse/x86_64/gd-de= vel-2.0.32-49.x86_64.rpm do a "make clean" and a "configure" and then try to "make" it again. Hi, I am a new employee from a company which is trying to use Nagios with= MySQL. Googling on the net I have found Perfparse (perfparse.sourceforge.net). I have been trying to install this program to work with Nagios and MySQL to work all together however I am getting troubles to install them.=20 The first step which I did was download all plugings: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=3D29880 Actually I downloaded the both files and installed in the some folder that is running Nagios ( /nagios ) The next step was download perfparse and configure it: I just typed ./configure on the shell screen inside the some directory which I had created. After that I tried to reinstall mysql, and create/import the *.sql files necessaries to create the nagios database. For my big surprise nothing happened after this step. I look at the Nagios again and it keep working with his files Actually he did not find or did not know which is the database that he has to work with. Could you help me showing me how to fix it up?=20 =20 Thanks for your attention. Hi Ben, nice to hear from you! I've made some graphical table schemas. Just visit http://perfparse.de/cvs_snapshots/ and grab the latest one. In doc/database you'll find Schema v19 as png and schema v20 as Open Office Document. pp works roughly with this schema and the php interface. The new schema is more normlized and should use much less storage. At the moment i'll try to complete the php interface, then beautify the html output and create developer and user documentation. Then i'll concentrate on storage compression (rrd-like) and input modules - like we have storage modules we should have also modules to read data for graphing/reporting. Somewhere in the middle i plan to make a release. Flo Ben Clewett schrieb: > Hi Flo, > > Thanks for keeping the project going. I look forward to seeing new > versions. Hello, I want to apologize to the perfparse developers. I used to own the 3 domains, but since these were donation domains, kinda slipped through the cracks in our system. (We don't donate very many domain names at all). I didn't realize they got grabbed till just now. Our notices about renewal to in...@pe... in September apparently got ignored or something, since I never received any notice the perfparse group wished to renew the domain names. Again sorry for the troubles...can't stand domain grabbers either...ugh. Jeff Scott -----Original Message----- From: per...@li... Luis: Simply: i have some machines with root access out there in the internet. It is really easiest for me to make all myself: DNS, Apache ... sf.net is limited in computing resources so for example a live demo is probably not possible there. Goetz: The new version will take some time, but i will announce if there is a working beta.
