Jeff, No worries, it's gone. I should have contacted you as soon as Flo told=20 me it was not resolving. I looked at purchasing it back, but they are=20 asking a min of =A3100, probably lots more. Hello, I want to apologize to the perfparse developers. I used to own the 3 domains, but since these were donation domains, kinda slipped through the cracks in our system. (We don't donate very many domain names at all). I didn't realize they got grabbed till just now. Our notices about renewal to in...@pe... in September apparently got ignored or something, since I never received any notice the perfparse group wished to renew the domain names. Again sorry for the troubles...can't stand domain grabbers either...ugh. Jeff Scott -----Original Message----- From: per...@li... Hi, the perfparse.org domain got lost, a domain grabber tries to sell it now. The perfparse.net domain will become free in some days and i bet he will be faster to register that domain. Never mind. I registered the perfparse.de domain. It points to the perfparse wiki. The old homepage is still accessible via the sourceforge project page. Once the documentation is updated and wikified i will switch the project page to the wiki page. The next perfparse will have a huge database redesign, it will need therefore much less space and will get hopefully faster too. A complete php web interface with html templates (easy to customize) and more features and less bugs will be there too. As always: Help is welcome, daily cvs snapshots can be downloaded now at http://perfparse.de/cvs_snapshots/ All @perfparse.org mail addresses got lost too, but if a perfparse developer needs a @perfparse.de address he can have it. Hi Reporting bugs - even in cvs snapshots helps. If you can program C or PHP or design HTML you can help. Or you write documentation or howto's in our wiki: http://wiki.perfparse.org Don't expect that cvs snapshots work the next 2 weeks. There is much work in progress. Besides the "classical" cgi i also develop a php based web interface. I decided to drop the cgi based interface. I will check if the php based interface let the hosts fall off the screen too. I have nagios 1.4 and nagios 2.0 running with pp and i think that it should work with 2.5 too. If i have some time i will check that. If you have any problems, use mailing lists or the wiki to ask for help. Just tried current cvs snapshot (22-08-2006), perfparse.cgi gives An error occured with the SQL: "SELECT group_name, raw_show_normal, raw_show_warning, raw_show_critical, raw_show_unknown, raw_refresh_time FROM perfdata_users WHERE user_name = 'iriartec'" Failure Message: "Unknown column 'group_name' in 'field list'" perfparse-log2mysql also segfaults CI.- |

HI, I move this thread to perfparse-devel@... I consider the subject as closed for users. Yes, as far as I remember (I coded it myself, but 2 years ago), the parse= r conforms to http://nagiosplug.sourceforge.net/developer-guidelines.html#THRESHOLDFORM= AT. However, the parsed data are dropped because the database schema does not= understand a lot of http://nagiosplug.sourceforge.net/developer-guidelines.html#THRESH= OLDFORMAT. In fact, the parser reads 973, MB, 490, 245, 0, 980 and sends those data = to the mysql plugin. That plugin stores 973MB as the value, 490 as the threshold betwe= en OK and warnin, and 245 as the threshold between warning and critical. If you want to check, you can hack the print module and you will see what= perfparse parses. The hourly statistics in the presentation is like if you set "daily average" as output and select a week as timerange in pp for example. The other distributions are not easily reproducable with pp but a good idea. Other ideas: logarithmic scales on both axes, fourier analysis to find frequencies ("is the high cpu load frequently or infrequently") and eventually one also could try to do correlation calculations ("does this high cpu load come from a high number of processes or from high network load?"). > Another idea: It would be useful, if I can choose among different graph > types (pie, line, 3D, etc.). You first would have to generate a command, send the command and data (in a pipe) to gnuplot and wait for it to generate a file. This file then has to be sent to the webbrowser. Ideally a graphing tool would be compiled into the cgi. But that's only a opinion. Flo |

Hi! Last week I installed HP OpenView Internet Services. I think that it has some graph types, which would be very useful in PP too. If you have some time please take a look at them (it requires 5 minutes for you): 1. Please go to http://ovweb.external.hp.com/lpe/doc_serv/?ovis webpage. 2. Choose "Internet Services" under the "1. Product" column. Version="a.06.10", OS="--All--" 3. Please select "New OVIS Dashboard Overview - Oct 05 (.pdf)" in the "4. Select the product manual title, then click the "Open" button or the "Download" button" table. Open it. 4. Select "Health Workspace - Trends Tab" in the PDF. 5. Please look at "Response Time Distribution", "Cumulative Distribution", "Hourly Statistics" graphs. Another idea: It would be useful, if I can choose among different graph types (pie, line, 3D, etc.). About 1 year ago there was a plan to integrate with GNUPLOT. Maybe it can satisfy feature requests about graphing. Thanks for any help you can offer with this. Kind regards, Tamas. |

Hi! I use PP v. 0.105.6, so I appologize if my reuested features work in the new 0.106.1 PP version. 1. I think it would be useful, if I can see both binary graph and raw data pertain to a particular host/service/metric in one page. 2. Is it possible to provide some kind of trend graphs (like MRTG) without raw data for long time trend analysis? I store data for the last 30 days so minimize the required disk size. If I would like to see graphs back to for example 45 days, the first drawing point begins just 30 days before. I like this accuracy of PP, but I think that this behavior can be supplement with a MRTG-style history graph. With this I can see accurate grahps and corresponding raw data if I need troubleshooting a service. But I can see long time trend if I need this (for example for fine tuning the service/network/plug-in). Thanks for any help you can offer with this. Kind regards, Tamas. |

Hi, it took more than a year to prepare a new release of perfparse. Many bugs have been fixed and there are some new things to explore: Support for Alex Peeters' asnmtap (http://asnmtap.citap.com) has been added to perfparse and there is a new unfinished php Webinterface where you can display multiple graphs on one page. See the Changelog for a list of fixed/new things. Why did it take so long? Yves and Ben, the main developers dived in family life, so i did too for a while. I still don't have load of spare time, but i want to continue with perfparse to make it more stable and full featured. If you want to help, give me a note! We need developers (C, PHP), designers, testers and document writers! We need YOU! Flo |

Hi, after using perfparse for some days, I have to say, it's very nice! But the automatic scaling function for graphs doesn't work. This little patch scale the selected graphs to 90% of the total size. It's against perfparse-0.105.6. I'm not sure if it works with PostgreSQL. bye Christian -- ---===============================================================--- Christian Schoeniger, SYSADM, FES GmbH - Fahrzeug-Entwicklung Sachsen phone: +49 375 5660 254 fax: +49 375 5660 92254 http://www.fes-aes.de ---===============================================================--- /* Nobody will ever see this message :-) */ panic("Cannot initialize video hardware\n"); 2.0.38 /usr/src/linux/arch/m68k/atari/atafb.c ---===============================================================--- |

Hello, I need to merge two perfparse databases. Each of them has the same structure and represents different time period. I've tried to merge two MySQL dumps, but there are a lot of duplications (maybe I should try to replace INSERT to UPDATE). I didn't find any tool or method how to do it. Do you have some experience with merging two perfparse databases? If yes, can you describe it? Thanks a lot. Cheers, Pavol -- ___________________________________________________________________ [Pavol Luptak, ICZ a.s.] [Pavol.Luptak@i.cz] [tel: +420(2)44100726] |

Hi to all, Sorry for not being involved. Thanks very much to Flo and Martin, it's=20 wonderful to see PP being maintained. There are several patches. A search of this mailing list should show=20 them. From memory I think we have: Bruno submitted one for SUN systems install procedure. Alex Peeters produces one so that PP works better with his data source. Temple C=E9dric submitted a patch to tidy up database and fix a bug. Regards, Ben.
