UEFI and Secure Boot Install

In this video I will show you how to perform a manual install to a modernish computer equipped with a SSD and set up for UEFI and SecureBoot deployment. The computer in question is my test rig a Dell Optiplex 3040 MFF i3 CPU, 16GB RAM, connected via display port cable to a Dell 19" monitor.

Please note with a SSD it requires the 10% overprovisioning protocol by leaving disk space unformatted after creating the following two partitions, a 300MB /boot/efi partition formatted in FAT32, and remember to Flag it as /boot. The second partition is for the / (root) partition, formatted in ext4 and remember to leave unformatted disk space at the end of the disk. In my case I have 250GB Samsung Evo SSD and left 24GB.

This provision and the auto-trim function in our software, keeps your expensive disk healthy throughout its lifespan. It get enough abuse through normal usage, let alone adding to its woes.

Also please note I have omitted to include a swap partition, I never use the hibernation mode, that would require a 16GB swap partition, and essential if you ever use hibernation mode. I will create a swapfile post install, see wiki: https://sourceforge.net/p/peppermintos/pepwiki/Swap%20File/
