I am trying to access files on the thumb drive in a USB port to run a program. When I use the Files program all I see is the hard drive. I am used to Windows 10 so I am used to using the File Manager program which shows everything connected. Peppermint is new to me so I really have no clue what to do

Check to see if you have a program called disks. If you do, you should see your drive there. If you don't see it in you file manager, that means it isn't mounted. Then from the menu in Disks, click mount drive.

    Hi William,

An installed Peppermint, will show the thumb drive after been plugged in, listed under the word Devices in the side panel of Thunar. As Steve alluded to, via checking for your thumb drive by the tool Disks. Please view the attached screenshots.

install pmount and usbmuxd, theres also a package called gvfs backends or something like that, once they're installed open nemo and there's and option in advanced settings to auto browse and mount external drives or usbs.
