    After installing updates on Peppermint 10, I am now required to input a password after boot up. Before I did the update I did not use a password. I have no idea what the password is

      Was the update you preformed to update a Pep10 install to a current PeppermintOS version ?
      Or was this a regular update involving "sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade -y" ?

      Thanks

    Hi PJ,

    What password did you use to apply and install these recent updates. It been a long time since I've looked at Pep 10, vaguely remember all software centres required a password to install an app and to do the system upgrades.

    To enable autologin again, go to User & Groups, and recheck the autologin box, it is flaky at the best of times, the optimum method is done during the initial install.

      I've tried following the "How to geek" instructions; however I can only get as far as "root drop to root shell prompt" after pressing enter I get "press enter for maintenance" After pressing enter again I get "root @ (and the name and model of my computer)"

      The password I used to install the updates does not work on the log screen after boot up

    I have Peppermint 11 installed on an Acer. In the BIOS I see:
    Set Supervisor Password [Enter]
    Set User Password [Enter]
    Set HDD Password {Enter]
    Password on Boot {Disabled}

    If you have the same thing, you might do a search for more info about them. These look likely...
