    Bruce Irving - 2022-07-24

Friday, I ran the update from the orange graphic by the clock and then shut
    down the computer.
This morning I started the computer and it restored the Firefox session as
it has in the past. Attempted to forward an email - didn't show any thing
so I opened another email and started to reply. About half way through my
message, a pop-up said something about unable to open the contacts (for
the forward. Was unable to close the window.
Restarted the computer, gain Firefox opened but gmail seemed to take
    forever to show the messages.

    Hi Bruce,

It is back to basics, and have you any stage tweaked your Firefox browser? Also how do you run your browser, for example "remember all history", "keep cookies", "loads of add-on extensions", save all your passwords etc etc. Personally find it becomes lardy and like it is wadding through syrup, when trying load a page.

Open a terminal run this command: sudo xDaily this will clean up your caches, trim your M.2 SSD, clean up Firefox, update and upgrade your system if upgrades are available. As the name suggests run this daily and it keeps your system up to date and clean.

The other important Update Tool is Pephub found Menu -> Settings -> Pephub , launch then click Hardware & Software -> Update Manager then run System Updates and Update Pep Tools. This a GUI version but is very useful to update and upgrade the Pep Tools.

    Firefox tweaks: https://sourceforge.net/p/peppermintos/pepwiki/Firefox%20Tweaks/

This will keep your browser lean and slim with a smooth and agile feel to it. I only use two extensions for my browser, DuckDuckGo and Adnauseam. Both increase security along with hblock a Peppermint tool I'm able to block 94% of ads and trackers.

    regards cavy :)

Hi cavy, I don't have an "Update Pep Tools" option anywhere in Pep Hub.

@Peppermint OS, the way I read cavy's explanation, I understood there will be a "System Update" and a "Pep Tools Update" option individually. So if there are two separate options, that's what I'm talking about. I did install Update Manager when the instructions first came out.

@alynur It should look like this.

@Alynur The wording may have been confusing .
Update Pep Tools is a part of "Update Manager".
It is Update Manager that is in the PepHub .
Update Pep Tools is one of the Update Manager options .

It isn't automated until you set a schedule for it .
Or you can run it manually from time to time, when it suits you.
We try to leave the choice of when and how to run it up to the end-user.

        I hope that helps

Alynur, You won't have to reinstall to get the latest updates.

Here in the SF Community for PeppermintOS, search here for "pepbit.sh" this is an update patch for recent versions of PeppermintOS that didn't have the Update Manager included in the PepHub, yet.
It was written to bring the previous releases from 2022 (and betas from late 2021 and early 2022) up to date.

When you find the announcement for pepbit.sh follow the instructions there and it should run its course from start to finish giving some output about what it is doing.
It does reinstall or update a few base packages required for the PepTools and the Update Manager. This is expected.
It should bring your PepTools folder up to date giving you the newest PepHub as well as the new Update manager and a couple of extras to go along with it. From thene on , the Update Manager will take care of keeping the PepTools updated and should include any additional features and tools added at a later date.

If needed , I can point you to the announcement link with the instructions.

      Thanks !

Memory flash, a while back, when I first tried to follow the directions of the post about installing Memory Updater, I kept getting an error, got it again today when trying it again, about ./pepbit.sh not being a command. Anyway, today, I did finally get it to install and all is good now. Thanks guys
