Hi
I downloaded < dayplanner > from their website.
As recommended, I used GDebi to install.
I got a message, missing dependency : libgtk2-perl
This one is not in the repos ( synaptic )
Where do I find this
Thanks

If you would like to refer to this comment somewhere else in this project, copy and paste the following link:
For downloading, You can find it here: https://packages.debian.org/buster/libgtk2-perl
Navigate to the bottom of the page and choose the architecture of your system from the list, whether it is amd64 or i386.
This is an older package, most recently found in Debian Buster (10) repositories.
Which might mean tracking down additional missing dependencies from the Buster repo's.
The dependencies are listed with it on the same page.
At the top of the page for the packages is a search feature to help with any sub dependencies.

Actually , after trying several times to get this to install, with the packages available,
I added Buster to the available repos in my systems /etc/apt/sources.list, to no avail.
And then trying it from in the Devuan test installs , that have some of the dependencies by default I gave up.
A little more looking shows you are not alone looking for a newer version or getting the current version to work.
From here , https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2474789&p=14094872 , otgers have shown their aingst trying to get it to work with recent releases.
From in that link , it looks as though there is a flathub version available, with instructions for installing . Or at least partial instructions.

Hi
Thanks for the reply, and the big effort put in.
Yes, it looks as if I have to say good-bye after many years of using it.
I will look around today for something alike
Thanks to all.

@ manuel rosa
Thanks for trying, but the results are as follows:
acer2@taw-acer2:~/Downloads$ sudo apt install ./dayplanner_0.12-1.1_all.deb [sudo] password for acer2:
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree... Done
Reading state information... Done
Note, selecting 'dayplanner' instead of './dayplanner_0.12-1.1_all.deb'
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
dayplanner : Depends: libgtk2-perl but it is not installable
E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.
acer2@taw-acer2:~/Downloads$
also, libgtk2-perl is not < visible > in synaptic.
? maybe enabling an extra repo in synaptic ?
I tried, but....no!

Try making a folder and putting all the deb files in it except 'dayplanner_0.12-1.1_all.deb'. Then left click on the file and select open in terminal. Then run
sudo dpkg -i *.deb

The instuctions here https://www.addictivetips.com/ubuntu-linux-tips/install-day-planner-linux/ are 4 years old .
The creators site ( https://www.day-planner.org/ ) hasn't been updated in 2 years .
Debian 11 was about 8 months ago and things have changed.
At the tail end of trying to install dayplanner, I ended with this:

My solution to missing DayPlanner.
The combination of Osmo and Gnome-clocks is doing just fine ( for me )
INFO ONLY
maybe i can help with dayplaner i recompiled and packaged it so it works on debian stable
you can install and test with these commands
wget https://sourceforge.net/projects/acoros/files/debs/dayplanner_0.12-1.1_all.deb/download
sudo apt install ./dayplanner_0.12-1.1_all.deb

I get the same when I try to install dayplanner using manuel rosa's method.
I went down the list of dependencies and was finally able to install day planner. At least the installation completed, but, it won't open/launch. This is what happens when I try the terminal
Attached are the deb files I installed
no go here
perlapi-5.28.0 required
libGtk2-perl required
Try making a folder and putting all the deb files in it except 'dayplanner_0.12-1.1_all.deb'. Then left click on the file and select open in terminal. Then run
to alynur
I did not manage
To all
I will be absent for a month, but will return
