I didn't see any option to set this when I did the installation and when I go to the Users panel and select Change on "Password: Asked on login" the option for "Don't ask" is grayed out. How do I change this? The user account type is Administrator.

    Hi Chuck Rivers,

The auto-login tick-box is under the use the same password for root tick-box. In both PMOS-Debian and Devuan versions.

Yep, using the User and Group GUI (graphic user interface) is hit or miss, mostly miss. We have a list of more important must do fixes before this minor issue is considered.

If this is a most for you, a reinstall would be beneficial to you. When at the name, rank, serial number page, don't forget to TICK the auto-login tick-box.

I've been giving Peppermint OS a trial for three weeks now and am getting to really like it in many ways, one of which is being able to auto-login.
During installation I created a main account, i.e. admin/su with a stong password but did not select automatic login. Once installed, I created a standard user account from which I do everything, meaning that if I want to install software or make changes, then I use my admin/su password to do so, or in Terminal change to su.
To auto-login to my standard account from boot up, I did the following:
opened /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf as root user, and added the following text to the bottom of this file whilst it was opened in text editor (Mousepad), my user name of my standard account being 'and66':

    [SeatDefaults]
    autologin-user=and66

This worked for me. If I leave the computer for 10 minutes then I have to log back in using my password for my standard user account.
