Hello All,
I'd been using Pep10 for a number of years but recently something was apparently corrupted and I was unable to close the picture viewer without just shutting down the power. The program repeatedly reloaded the same picture over and over. After I restarted the machine, I received a boot error that I was unable to get past.
I recently learned that Pep11 had been released (Big Thanks to the new development team) so I decided I might as well load up the new version. I've tried this three or four times and it continues to hang up around the 65% mark with a Bootloader Installation error. Here is the actual message (not copy and pasted so any syntax error is likely my own handwriting...):
"The bootloader could not be installed. The installation command
I'm installing this in the same partition, over the previous Pep 10 install, that worked fine for a number of years, until a week ago. Thoughts?

Hi Jay, welcome to Planet Peppermint.
Several points, that need addressing.
Peppermint 10 reached End Of Life (EOL) in April 2023.
Minor point you are using 32bit on a 64bit computer: 5.10.0-19-686-pae i686 bits: 32 compiler:
There is no swap partition or swapfile: Swap: Alert: No Swap data was found.
It appears you are attempting to install in Legacy mode to a GPT and UEFI partition. As there is no /boot/efi
This is my partition scheme from my daily driver, I utilise a 4GB swapfile as a precaution, even though I have 16GB of RAM in this machine. Also I have installed in UEFI and SecureBoot.
For best results with the specs of this computer, is to wipe the disk, format it GPT partition tables, then with the Gparted tool, create a 300MB /boot/efi 32FAT partition, and a 225GB / partition, then click the tick symbol to finalise scheme. Before exiting this tool click on "Manage Flag" and click on boot and esp from this drop-down menu.
Cavy,
Thanks for the suggestions. I believe most of them were incorporated in the installation I was able to complete....finally! As you noted, I had initially downloaded the 32bit version. I downloaded the correct version and the install went smoothly! I had to reformat the m2 sda and SSD sdb so I lost all my data, but that happens...
I've partitioned and formatted sdb into a single drive that I intend to use for my data, as soon as I remember how to do that. I've got the drive mounted, via fstab, so I'm nearly there.
Here's the updated info....am I on the right track?
Hi Jay Swenberger, here's an old symlink cheat sheet I was aided with way back in my Pep 6 days. I still refer to it when I need to jar my memory. Hope it helps.
Ps: credit AndyinMokum for the cheat sheet

returned error code 1."Thoughts? suggestions? I'm no software guru, just someone with enough knowledge and too much self-confidence to get myself in over my head...
Thanks in advance,

Thanks for the cheat sheet. I dive into Linux so infrequently that I need to relearn the basics each time. Next time...Pep12!
