Hello. I have PepOS (Debian version) installed on older (2015) hardware. I didn't immediately discover the PepOS Wiki. I now (belatedly) discover why I don't have a swap partition.

Regarding the instructions here, I have a specific question:
    https://sourceforge.net/p/peppermintos/pepwiki/Swap%20File/

Am pasting in a few steps from above link: PASTE BEGIN
Add the following text to the /etc/fstab file under the last entry, should be /or the /home depending on your schema.

    /swapfile swap swap defaults 0 0

    sudo swapon --show

    NAME TYPE SIZE USED PRIO
    /swapfile file 4G 0B -2

    sudo update-grub
    PASTE END

I understand that the line '/swapfile swap swap defaults 0 0' should be added to the bottom of the /etc/fstab file. But what I'm asking for clarity on is: Are the next steps also for adding to the /etc/fstab file below the line we add '/swapfile swap swap defaults 0 0' ?

I'm very much an end-user. It seems to my 'best uneducated guess' that lines 'sudo swapon --show' and 'sudo update-grub' are for the TERMINAL, not the /etc/fstab file.

    (And also that
    'NAME TYPE SIZE USED PRIO
    /swapfile file 4G 0B -2'
would be terminal output from 'sudo swapon --show' )

However, I don't wish to make a huge mistake that I cannot recover from. So I'm respectfully asking for assistance with this.

As an addendum to the above, I'd like to ask if it's OK to use the swap instructions AFTER installing all necessary personal apps? Or am I facing a situation where only a re-install can solve my situation of not having a swap partition?

I should also add that I've changed out the default desktop to Cinnamon (which of course uses up additional resources). I mainly use this older machine for running a node.

Mahalo Nui Aloha (Thank You in Hawaiian)

Starting from sudo swapon --show that should be what is ran in the terminal (I Updated the wiki to reflect that)

    (And also that
    'NAME TYPE SIZE USED PRIO
    /swapfile file 4G 0B -2'
would be terminal output from 'sudo swapon --show' )

You are correct that is an example output of what should be shown in the terminal

    Hope that helps,

Aloha, Peps! With the above clarification, I was able to add in swap partition & adjust it to 10 (using the configure PepOS page on the wiki).

I experienced a few palpitations of dread when the machine didn't boot up as quickly as it had previously done ... but somehow Mr. Grub was able to shake it off & move forward. ; - ))

Thanks again for the expert & timely support.
