Hi Old Ton,
Historically you have suffered internet issues, our Mini iso (the Debian and Devuan Netinstaller) requires an Ethernet cable connection to obtain the optimum benefits.
Plus do not mix desktop environments in the same install, it pollutes and corrupts the system. If yo feel the need to have several different desktops, either employ to a second hard drive or create separate partitions for each desktop, to be installed after your Cinnamon install.
In the past when attempting to install via the Debian Netinstall to my Lenovo N200 Notebook in 2012, relatively still a newish computer. But sadly its 100Mb/s PCI Ethernet connection was essentially overwhelmed by the Debian Netinstaller, it took 24hrs to complete its task, but failed to boot, among other issues.
After multiple attempts, I realised I needed a better equipped machine, especially when attempting to install via the Netinstaller. Finding 300Mb/s being the bare minimum for this task. These days all my equipment has 1GB PCI connection and wifi cards and the wireless PCI in my current new to me Tower, delivers 866Mb/s signal strength.
To find out the signal strength of your internet connection, right click on the Internet icon in the panel and take a screenshot and post it in your reply. Along with other the details I have asked for, will aid us, and hopefully find a solution to your dilemma.

This is as short as I can get it
In pepdevmini you get choices of 1-devuan , 2 Peppermint Desktop , 3-various desktop environmets etc etc etc
Next: Yesterday I was on a afternoon-come-together with 11 linux users, 3 Windows11 user, 1 Mac user.
I presented them with the layout-pic and asked their opinion
All, except Mac user, marked Peppermint Desktop as to be installed.( as this is Peppermint and we want a desktop)
This is wrong. What you devs understand with Peppermint desktop is very different than what the public understands
One hour discussion in one line----> Change the name and says what it is/contains or remove it.
There is xfce as a choice
I stop here ! Up to you to think and decide.
Choice is: Go down or go up.
I stop here as I got better things to do than waste more time
Just in case.....without P desktop all is fine. ( except refractasnapshot )
Bye !

For what it's worth ( to devs )
I just discovered -by install- that there is another famous Distro with same problem regarding Cinnamon+Thunar and family+xfce4 packages
Name withheld-Sorry

In future when citing an issue, please supply the printout of this terminal command
inxi -c 5 -b
and use this guide about how to encapsulate the terminal printout for legibility purposes. https://sourceforge.net/p/peppermintos/pepwiki/How%20Encapsulate%20inxi%20printout/alsoTo find out the signal strength of your internet connection, right click on the Internet icon in the panel and take a screenshot and post it in your reply.
