If I recall correctly, the name Auralizer came from the original extended name: "Peep: The Network Auralizer." It was perpetuated by the original domain name registration for the Peep homepage. Peep.com, peep.net, and peep.org were already taken (you can guess what kind of web sites they are ;-) so I went with auralizer.com.
