#551 ARC Self-extracting archive EXE must run as administrator
This seems to be a new issue as this didn't seem to be happening before. Using 7.1.1 on Windows 10 running a standard limited user. Created a self-extracting EXE file using ARC with a password for TwoFish. Ran that EXE which invokes UAC before anything else. Is this intended as some sort of feature? This is suspicious behavior and I am hoping that the PeaZip binary downloaded is not corrupted into some sort of malware inserting some sort of trojan into self extracting archives that someone needing the contents of the archive would allow as a matter of course and then be owned. Please advise.
Hello, I was not able to reproduce the issue as described on test machines: the UAC prompt is not triggered by simply running a FreeArc sfx, but only when elevation is required, i.e. writing to protected destination paths.
Moreover, the code behind FreeArc sfx was not changed in release 7.1.1, so what is happening to you is very unusual.
If you suspect the application download is corrupted I suggest you to download it again, checking the hash of the download, i.e. for PeaZip WIN64 7.11 installer sha1 is correctly reported c83b66d2aea02efdb8dc7c7b3d1d3328c26381e7 both from SourceFoprge and OSDN.net
As alternative, I can suggest you to test the issue in PeaZip Portable, which is auto-contained (uses its own configuration rather the one of the installed version) and does not require installation.
