When opening files from an encrypted 7Z archive, what temporary files are created?

How are they handled, i.e., deletion, location, etc.?

To be clear, I can view an encrypted file in an archive after entering the password. Does viewing the file (doument, image, etc.) cause a temporary file to be created?

    Hello, when a file is being previewed it is extracted / decrypted to a temporary location set from Options > Settings > General > "Working directory" - the same setting define the path where temporary data is written while creating an archive.

    Default working directory is "Output", same path of the archive.
    PeaZip try to delete the temporary directory when the user exits the archive (i.e opening another archive, or browsing the filesystem) or when the program is closed.
    If the file is locked, PeaZip retry to delete it until success or until the user chose to ignore the deletion of temporary data (being warned by a modal window prompt).

    Other options for working directory are:
    system temp path;
    custom path, defined by the user - in example set it to a RAMdisk would be ideal to avoid letting tracks even in case of system crash during the preview operation;
    "None (no preview)", in which preview is not allowed at all, so no content is decrypted unless the user decides to finalize the extraction.
