The RedPear OS project aims to solve a large number of deficiencies noted in other GNU / Linux distributions, such as :

Best overall aesthetic to the rationalization of the user interface ;
Reduce dependence on software using core apps written in C or Vala ;
Reduce the need for terminal use.

Although not contrary to the GNU philosophy, these deliberate choices of design differ from what most GNU / Linux distributions choose : freedom to create and customize your own desktop environment.
