I have copied Peace to a new installed Win. All settings are copied besides of the icons not being asigned to the profiles anymore. Did I make a mistake?

Wouldn't it be good to assign an icon wihtout having to save the profile again? Or is there a method to do so already?

I guess you have copied the all .peace files, the profiles. The icon assignment is stored in the .peace files so they should appear on your new Windows installation. To be sure you could send me one or more profiles of which you are sure there's an icon attached (which isn't the default blue one).

As an icon belongs to a profile a save action should be done. And such an action must be left to the user. He should choose an icon and choose to save it as belonging to the current profile on screen.

Yes, I did. Alright, will sent an e-mail with profiles.

Yes, of course, saving a profile after editing it (e.g. assigning an icon) is necessary, sorry, not that useful what I meant. Actually I should have meant this: the option to assign an icon may be has an uncommon place (in the save menu / window), I would think. I did not remember where that option is, so I hardly couldn't find it anymore. Saving and editing options gernally - I assume - shouldn't be together in the same window. Editing option in the editing area, saving with saving options (I wouldn't consider an icon to be such) in the saving window, I would think.

    Many thanks

About the icons selection on the save window. It could indeed be argued that editing options (perhaps including the icon selection) should be on a separate edit window under a button on the main window. But I didn't want to have an additional button on the main screen. But it can be a bit confusing where to enter the description of the profile and where to select the icon.

May be an item in a context menu, right mouse click on the profile (name). May be just the action to open the save window with the icons, like it is now. May be a mouse over hint. Clicking the save buttom seems to just being able to save the profile but not to get to further options (like chosing an icon, a URL.

Good suggestion but the right click brings you to the corresponding website of the profile when you've gotten it from the internet. But a context menu could be a solution although there isn't any context menu in the all of Peace.

You're right. The hint (tooltip) doesn't give any clue of the options on the save window. It could be improved.

    Anyway, I'll think it through.

So then a mouse click shows the context menu with two items, icon and corresponding website...what website....?...for a profile...?....

May be good to start with. foobar has many context menus. Aimp also has. Much place for new items or double items, e.g. a save item.

By the way, an import / export (repectively back up / resotre) option would be great, so one could export all of one's settings (including icons) and import them, e.g. on a new Win / drive, etc.

Yes, of course, I'm curious how it will look like.

The webpage of the profile which is made by someone or an equalization which I have converted into a profile.

A back up and restore feature is already available on the Back up and Restore tab in the settings.

Sorry, I do not understand. A user can download a profile someone else did...?...or a user can upload his own profile to his own website...?...

Unbelievable. And that option backs up all of one's settings? Including self made icons? Everything? So I should have used it to import all of my settings to the new install.

In this folder on the Peace website there are a lot of profiles made by other people. Some of them do have a corresponding webpage. For instance NoAudiophile made DSP corrections on 27 speakers. I have create a profile for each and added links to the webpages. So by right clicking your browser will open the corresponding page which gives you more in depth info on the profile.

All he backup feature does is copy all .peace files and the settings file peace.ini to a folder (usually in mydocuments). It doesn't produce one major file containing everything.

Self made images (a theme) are put into the theme folder. These aren't included into a backup. There's no need since a theme is downloadable like this one.

Unbelievable, I completely missed that development. Thank you for the links.

Hmmm, yes...but....hmmmm.....strange...hmmmmm.....but one has to download it and so on (such an effort actually should be avoid when backing up anything, I would think. So one could say, there is no need to back up the settings because you just can do them again. And with a single click or two one has his own settings copyied / backed up completely without having to do further steps without concerning what else is to do, if there is anything missing.

Backing up the Peace settings can be convenient if you have changed a lot of settings. But if only a few settings were changed there isn't really a need to back up the settings as you're saying.

In your case copying all Peace files was a good way to go. One could also do this (just an example on how to):
    1. Back up the profiles and settings to USB by using the backup feature of Peace
    2. Download and install Peace on the other computer
    3. Restore from USB by using the restore feature of Peace
