Using the patch 05.movie.pd and the pix_movie-help.pd in Pd-0.39.3-extended and Pd-0.40.3-extended-2007-11-27, I get strange colors strobing over the videos that are playing. See attached screenshots to get an idea of what they look like.
pix_film seems to work fine.
This is on a MacBook Pro 17" 3rd gen running 10.4.11. This was happening before on 10.4.10 also.

The driver for that Nvidia GPU is horribly bad. It would be funny if there was actually an alternative in the 'Pro' model but there is not. I can find no way of fixing it since there is no problem on each and every last other GPU and driver released by Apple that runs under OSX.

The thing is that [pix_film] works fine, this only affects [pix_movie]. I was under the impression that [pix_movie] was basically just a [pix_film] combined with a [pix_texture].

hmm, if [pix_movie] is actually pix_movieNEW (as opposed to pix_movieDarwin), then it is indeed just a combination of [pix_film] and [pix_texture], with the noteable exception that colors are decoded as RGB instead of RGBA (at least on non-osx platforms; i would have to check back on os-x)
apart from that: when you add files to the tracker, please remove any spaces beforehand. it is always a pain to have only half of the filename (e.g. here i get 2 times "Picture")

Hi - I have seen this exact bug as well with pix_movie, where as pix_film seems to work just fine: here is my system info
Mac OS X 10.5.1
Intel Powerbook Core 2 Duo, 2.33Ghz
ATI x1600 PCIe
vram : 256
So im not sure its related to nVidia exactly.
p.s. - this is vade on the PD list. Thanks!

the images look like a YUV texturing problem, weird that it appears on osx....
additionally i haven't been able to reproduce it (on a G5 with an nvidia-card (don't know the model)
does the problem still exist?
(or has it magically been solved with the glewification...:-))

I tried this with Pd-0.40.3-extended-20080320.app and it is still the same problem.

I recently applied a firmware update to this same machine, and it still has this problem. I also tested it on Pd-0.40.3-extended-20080403.
MacBook Pro 17" 3rd Gen
Nvidia GeForce 8600M GT
Mac OS X 10.4.11 with all updates applied

confirmed with similar hardware (running OS-X 10.4.11)
(don't know how to generate such fancy machine information though)

This is not a NVidia issue - as I have the same exact error on my MBP with an ATI x1600, just FYI.

This is happening on a 4th gen Mac Book Pro with a GeForce 8600M GT on Mac OS X 10.5.2
running 0.40.3-extended-20080604
btw, it does not happen on PPC, only on intel
