BUG RETURNED
this bug solved in old versions but it seems in new versions it came back
this machine is DEBIAN JESSIE LXDE and when i move 1 desktop icon and use these commands
pcmanfm --desktop-off
pcmanfm --desktop --profile LXDE
(this commands are same with what happen on relog/reboot/shutdown)
icon will remain at its place but if i move more items and use these commands icons will back to default place at left side of desktop and wallpaper will back to default config file of pcmanfm is in ~/.config/pcmanfm/LXDE/desktop-items-0.conf but it will recreate with default configs it seems there is a noob script like /usr/bin/startlxde or some n00b functions in pcmanfm that remake config file when it cant read it(i guess) so i need to fix this bug at first and at next please remove this beheavior because i want get backup from desktop-items-0.conf and restore it when i needed
i purged and reinstalled pcmanfm libfm lx* from main repository that didnt work and also testing that didnt work
Anonymous
~/.config/pcmanfm/LXDE/desktop-items-0.conf if this file is not readable for pcmanfm it should give error and let us to fix it not recreate it with default again
some links that they think solved it are these:

Well, what version are you using? Links from 2011 are completely irrelevant now as they are about obsolete unsupported version, which even had configuration file different from current. And you also found latest related problem, which was fixed an year ago and included into version 1.2.4. Therefore tell me version of PCManFM you're using, please. Thank you.
i purged and reinstalled pcmanfm libfm lx* from main repository that didnt work and also testing repository that didnt work
as i told newest in main and testing repository. i tested both but exactly now i use from main

and a day before this problem i updated OS with these commands:
apt update
apt upgrade
packages from http://ftp.ir.debian.org/debian can be different with packages from http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian ????

just pending ? its serious problem i have not desktop its priority is very high because it means this software is destroyed. its main interface of LXDE
It was set pending as developers are pending your info. Since your answer is 1.2.3 and your issue seems to be the same as bug [#927], which I believe is fixed in 1.2.4, so try to install 1.2.4 version and it will be fixed for you.

I found what causing
pcmanfm
losing icons order in desktop.Issue is that if file contains symbol
[
in its name it isn't changed to\[
indesktop-items-0.conf
file.I was using LUbuntu 16.04 with pcmanfm 1.2.4
File on desktop:
test [1].txt
Desktop config file:
~/.config/pcmanfm/lubuntu/desktop-items-0.conf
Because that symbol isn't replaced properly reading this desktop config file fails and default config is used
I realize this is an old thread, but I just encountered this bug myself with the current version Pcmanfm 1.2.5. I had placed a file on the desktop with []'s int the file name and it caused the icons to align left and the wallpaper disappeared. After much hair-pulling, I found this thread and problem solved. Thanks for the info!
Thank you very much for the investigation. I hope this issue is fixed now in GIT repository sources.
