There are times when the tags put a space on the end of the output, and other times when they do not. Personally, I think that all the tags should trim all whitespace from the output, and newlines should not cause spaces in the output. If I want whitespace, I want control over how it's put in ( in HTML, other commands in FOP). Statblocks are a real pain in this regard since whitespace is minimal in that format.
