Category: BONUS/CHOOSE/DEFINE tags Group: None >Status: Deleted >Resolution: Invalid Priority: 5 Submitted By: James McMurray (jtmcmurray) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: Exotic ranged choices only for CHOOSE: Initial Comment: Hi everyone, Is it possible to stipulate multiple requirements in a CHOOSE:WEAPONPROFS line? The archer (a homebrewed class of my own) can choose as one of his bonus feats exotic weapon proficiency, hwever, it can only be chosen in a ranged exotic weapon. I have tried several combinations and been unable to filter the non-ranged exotics out of the choose dialogue. I apologize if this is already an existing featue. Thanks! Just make sure goes something like CHOOSE:WEAPONPROF|Blah1|Blah2|TYPE.BlahType.Blahtype|1. As in TYPE.Exotic.Ranged, TYPE.Melee.Metal, TYPE:Exotic.Melee.Metal.etc.etc. However far the user wants to limit the list, while still using a weapon TYPE. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Andrew McDougall (tir-gwaith) Date: 2003-08-21 20:04 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=208239 Ok, NOW I think I get it. (famous last words) Yeah, let's get WEAPONPROF to go off of TYPE or name, so CHOOSE:WEAPONPROF|Blah1|Blah2|TYPE.BlahType|1 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Duke Watson (hetter) Date: 2003-08-21 09:33 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=835920 CHOOSE:Exotic.Ranged|1 will not work. CHOOSE:<weapontype> defaults to the WEAPONPROFTYPE tag. To quote myself "I can't get the CHOOSE WEAPONPROFTYPE tag to work (the WEAPONPROFTYPE's appear to be hardcoded, as changing them in miscinfo.lst doesn't change them)". To be a little bit clearer on that, I tried to change WEAPONPROFTYPE:Exotic in miscinfo.lst to WEAPONPROFTYPE:Ranged. Exotic went away, but Ranged did not replace it. In the docs, it says that WEAPONPROF adds a new weapon proficiency (I'm paraphrasing there). I tested it, and it does, but it is not a period delimited list. I.e., CHOOSE:WEAPONPROF|1|Exotic will work, but not CHOOSE:WEAPONPROF|1|Exotic.Ranged. We need that second case to work to get this bug cleared up. So Tir, I say again, can we get a Code Monkey to look at the CHOOSE:WEAPONPROF tag and get it to accept the same paramaters as the CHOOSE:WEAPONPROFS tag? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Andrew McDougall (tir-gwaith) Date: 2003-08-21 03:52 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=208239 Ahh.. He wants to add a proficiency. THAT is different. Somehow missed that. Yeah, he'd need the CHOOSE: tag. Weapon Finesse has no problems, since you have to already be proficient in the weapon (in 3.0), and in 3.5, it doesn't need a CHOOSE (not multiple either.) One of those hardcoding things. Right now the way to do that would be CHOOSE:Exotic.Ranged|1 But I'm not sure if that will work, because Ranged isn't a WEAPONCATEGORY (as defined in GameMode, I think). We are getting into fuzzy area, which means the code is prob. a rat's nest in there. Hetter, will CHOOSE:Exotic.Ranged|1 work for his purposes, now that I understand what he is trying to do? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Duke Watson (hetter) Date: 2003-08-21 02:26 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=835920 It's been tested now. CHOOSE:WEAPONPROFS does exactly what the docs says it does (what it does in Weapon Finesse and Weapon Focus). It only allows a choice of weapons you are already proficient in. CHOOSE:WEAPONPROF is the tag to get a new weapon to be proficient in. Also, as far as I know, Weapon Finesse hasn't changed. It uses the WEAPONPROFS tag, not WEAPONPROF. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Andrew McDougall (tir-gwaith) Date: 2003-08-20 20:56 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=208239 CHOOSE:WEAPONPROFS|TYPE.Exotic.Ranged That should work, has it been tested? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Martijn Verburg (karianna) Date: 2003-08-20 18:31 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=252169 OK, Tir, sounds like Weapon Finesse has changed. What syntax should we have? We currently have CHOOSE:WEAPONPROF|x|TYPE=y can we go CHOOSE:WEAPONPROF|x|TYPE=y.<more options>? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Duke Watson (hetter) Date: 2003-08-20 08:06 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=835920 Weapon finesse works fine. Made a human fighter, gave him weapon finesse in the short sword. Print previewed and weapon finesse was applied. Weapon finesse lists TYPE.Natural|TYPE.Finesseable|TYPE.WSize.Light.Melee in that order. Looking under srdweapmelee.lst the only applicable type on a shortsword is melee, although it is in the small block. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Martijn Verburg (karianna) Date: 2003-08-20 05:29 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=252169 Hetter, can you actually check if weapon finesse has been changed/broken in that case? I can't get the CHOOSE WEAPONPROFTYPE tag to work (the WEAPONPROFTYPE's appear to be hardcoded, as changing them in miscinfo.lst doesn't change them). The closest I can get is with the CHOOSE:WEAPONPROF|x|TYPE=y, but the TYPE=y will only accept one argument (i.e. TYPE=Exotic or TYPE=Ranged, not TYPE=Exotic.Ranged). I recommend that one of the Code Monkeys have a look at this, and see how difficult it would be to implement a period delimited list much like CHOOSE:WEAPONPROFS has. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Martijn Verburg (karianna) Date: 2003-08-08 07:06 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=252169 David we'll try you 8-) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Andrew McDougall (tir-gwaith) Date: 2003-06-10 04:42 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=208239 Josefff, try this in testing: CHOOSE:WEAPONPROFS|TYPE.Exotic.Ranged That should work (it does in the Weapon Finesse feat) - needs the TYPE. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Martijn Verburg (karianna) Date: 2003-05-06 22:03 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=252169 Tir comments? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Joseph Conrad (josefff) Date: 2003-01-28 00:42 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=629317 Still Open Tested with ver.4.2.8--- Modified phbfeats.lst Exotic Weapon Prof. to CHOOSE:WEAPONPROFS|Exotic.Ranged| was not recognized.... returned single choice in pop-up "Exotic.Ranged" not all Exotic Weapons joseFFF TM Gibbon Test Lemur ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Martijn Verburg (karianna) Date: 2003-01-06 17:28 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=252169 Tir says try this CHOOSE:WEAPONPROFS|Exotic.Ranged| ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Martijn Verburg (karianna) Date: 2003-01-06 17:28 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=252169 From Tir, beaver to test.
