Bugs item #1064928, was opened at 2004-11-11 20:07 Message generated for change (Comment added) made by tir-gwaith You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=384719&aid=1064928&group_id=25576 Category: User Interface Group: 5.7.8 >Status: Closed >Resolution: Fixed Priority: 5 Submitted By: Grutos (grutos) >Assigned to: Devon Jones (soulcatcher) Summary: 5.7.8 & XP Home, SP2 = Slow Initial Comment: I have been using PC Gen 5.6.0 on my XP Home, SP2 box and have had very few problems (outside of user error). However, when I installed the 5.7.8 version, PC Gen went from being very quick and responded well to bogged down and sluggish. I still have 5.6.0 installed, but it is not running when 5.7.8 is running. Do I need to completely uninstall 5.6.0 for there to be no conflicts? System: AMD Athlon XP 2200+ 768 MB DDR RAM GF2 MX 400 64 MB AGP video card XP Home, SP2 Also just noticed in 5.7.8 that when I launch the program, the is a consistent "Cannot find modifer named: +1" (this repeats 7 times for each number: +1 through +5). Thanks :) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: Andrew McDougall (tir-gwaith) Date: 2004-12-28 05:07 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=208239 closing as fixed, then. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Loknar (loknar) Date: 2004-12-28 05:06 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1007281 Yeah I think this bug is gone for me now with the Beta .12 - although the performance still completely breaks in when exceptions occur - but that is another story. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Paul W. King (kingpaul) Date: 2004-12-27 22:29 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=277877 Can this tracker be closed now? Speed has vastly improved over the past several releases. Paul W. But I had this problem for a couple of versions and it still persisted with 5.7.11 and also with a cvs checkout i did 2 or 3 days ago. My character is level 2 with a template and some basic equipment - btw: I upload the charcter already for another bug regarding loading issues cause of wrinting the pcgen files as unicode. (this bug is fixed since 5.7.11) ... https://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=1079272&group_id=25576&atid=384719 Just take the charcter 'Torin Elidan3.pcg' - although you don't have the template I think you should be able to see the bug. But i can also upload my most recent char file once I'm at home. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Frugal (frugal) Date: 2004-12-10 03:54 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=4807 Which version of PCGen is this happening with ? Can you please try it with the latest autodbuild from http://www.legolas.org/pcgen and let us know if it is any better ? also: What level is the character. Epic characters have a set of known speed issues. Regards, Frugal ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Loknar (loknar) Date: 2004-12-10 01:36 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1007281 Sorry but i disagree - this bug still persists. I can easyly reproduce it by loading an already equipped character with some containers and a bunch of equipment (not too much - about 25 pieces). Then I go to the equipment pane and remove and reequip some of my money from the pouch and then into the pouch again - switching back to the 'Gear'-Subpane takes about 15 seconds (on an Athlon with 2Mhz and 1GB of total memory) and from that point on PCGen is slow overall (until I close that (all) characters). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Martijn Verburg (karianna) Date: 2004-12-09 17:30 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=252169 5.7.11 seems to be speedy for my XP SP2 box.. Users may also benefit from the instructions in pcgen.bat file. I think bug can be closed? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Loknar (loknar) Date: 2004-12-04 03:46 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1007281 Well I have the same problem for windows 2k with Servicepack 4 - although setting the xmx parameter helped a bit especially the equipment pane is extremely slow (and after it was once opened the whole PCGEN) ... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=384719&aid=1064928&group_id=25576 |
