This is not at all clear. The "Money" section of all the different OSs show the net value of all coins and gems the character carries. What did you expect it to show? The "gold" box on the gear tab shows what you have that you haven't spent. If you put in a value, and then "purchase" coins, it will go to zero, and the coins' value will show up on the OS. The value in the gold never shows on the OS.
