When I go to Edit...Copy Password to Clipboard I get an error msg that says
"OpenClipboard Failed"
I had an older version of this software and it started this, so I upgraded. The first couple of times I used the new version it worked but now I keep getting this msg.
Any ideas.
Thanks, ileen

    I can't reproduce this.

What version of Windows are you running and are you running any Clipboard manager software?

    Hey David,
I am running Win XP. I don't know about "Clipboard" manager software.

I have done some quick research. This is not a PasswordSafe message but issued by Windows.

Most entries found via Google relate to other programs that copy a lot of data to the Clipboard (e.g. images etc.).

This is the only occurrence we have had reported for PasswordSave. I am afraid it most probably due to the other software you run on your system.

Odd, this happened to me for the first time yesterday. In my case it was a system-wide failure of the clipboard - couldn't copy/paste between any 2 applications. I suspect it was cause by an instance of another application I was running (VirtualBox). In any case, rebooting the machine fixed this.

Thanks for the help but I need to provide a little more information.
I can cut/copy/paste in all other windows programs except password safe. (IE, Fire Fox, Quickbooks, work, excel, outlook, graphics software, et al. no problem. Huh??? Go figure, I always get the odd errors.
I am going to run a reg optimize program in hopes that this might help. However, this is way over my head.
    Any more ideas.
Thanks for all your time. I really do appreciate it! I've been messin' with this for several days trying to figure out why.
    Thanks,
    i

I just upgraded to Windows 7 and have not been able to copy anything from or to PasswordSafe version 3.20. As I'm sure it's a Windows 7 security thing, I'll keep looking but hoping that someone else has already figured it out.

I have used PWS on Windows 7 Release Candidate - not on the offical released version. I know of no reason why you have this problem.

However, Windows 7 and Vista have the ability to fool programs to run under a different version of Windows. On Vista, I can right click the executable (pwsafe.exe) and select Properties. Then I can select the Compatibility page and then run it in compatibility mode for Windows XP SP2.

I suspect that under Windows 7, you could select Vista instead of Windows XP.

As I said, it works fine for me but you could try this approach.

Another thought - how did you install it? Did you just dowbnload the zip file and extract the contents into a directory? If Windows 7 is anything like Vista, if you do this, you should first unblock the zip file before extracting the files. Again, right click on the zip file, select properties. Click the 'Unblock' button at the bottom and then the 'Apply' or 'OK' button. Now extract the contents to where you want it.

You may need to Unblock the .exe or .msi file too if you used them - but I am not sure about that as I always use the zip file.
