With the support for adding custom fields to an entry v3.71.0pre does not support a tall view/edit entry screen (for example when starting pwsafe.exe with the --do-tall switch) and defaults to a wide view/entry screen whether the --do-tall switch is used on not. This request is to still allow the --do-tall option in v3.71.0 and later versions to provide a tall view/edit entry screen with a new assumption that users using this command line option to start pwsafe do not plan to use custom fields, so their view/edit entry screens will not have the new options to create/view custom fields and will look just like a tall entry screen of v3.70.1 (i.e. the release just prior to v3.71.0). A user could later decide that they'd like to use custom fields by simply removing the --do-tall switch when starting pwsafe.exe v3.71.0 or later.

    Can't reproduce this.

On my machine, --do-tall, --do-wide and --do-auto work as they did in previous versions.

Note that these are stored in the preference file to avoid having to pass them at each invocation:
    <dlgorientation>1</dlgorientation>
Where '0' is "auto", "1" is "tall" and "2" is "wide"

Perhaps you're having permission problems writing to the file?
Try manually editing it, e.g., with notepad, and deleting the above line.

    (C:\Users\<your username="">\AppData\Local\PasswordSafe\pwsafe.cfg)</your>

    Hi Rony,

Glad to hear that --do-tall/wide/auto works as they did in previous versions.

I'll look into my issue and report back. Thank you!

    Hi Rony,

I have resolved my issue and indeed you are correct that --do-tall and --do-wide work as expected using v3.71.0pre.
The issue I have now with do-tall layout and the new custom field section on the view/edit entry screen is with my high DPI laptop (2560x1440). Prior to v3.71.0pre I was successully using do-tall layout with my display scaling set to 200% (the windows recommended value). With v3.71.0pre I have to go to 150% scaling for the do-tall layout to fit. At 175% display scaling, the do-tall layout almost fit the screen - I bascially only can't see the buttons at the very bottom of the screen (i.e. OK,Cancel, Help, Apply). Fig 1 shows a screen capture of the view/edit screen when I set windows display scaling to 150%. I wonder if there is opportunity to tweak the v3.71.0pre view/edit screen layout to take out some white space and maybe I could get to use 175% scaling with everyting visible on screen. The colors in Fig 1 are to illustrate two thoughts I have. The yellow highlight is the thought that maybe the three lines of text could be reduced to two to gain some space to pull everthing up a little bit and the blue highlight is my thought that there is some unnecesary white space in that area that could be removed . Thanks.

    Thanks for the update.

Tweaking the text at the top isn't an option, as I can't ensure that a two line limit will be respected for all supported languages.

I'll look into reducing the height from the bottom (blue highlight).

      Okay, sounds good. Thank you.

Another 'issue' I noticed with v3.71.0pre is the smallest font size choice for Tree/List, Add/Edit, Notes, Password, and Virtual Keyboard is 8. I'm fairly sure there were lower font size choices in the past . The reason lower choice is needed is to be able to chose a font size that when scaled by Windows display scaling setting on high DPI screens achieve a desirable result. I recently upgraded to Windows 11, so this might be a Windows 10 vs 11 difference (I'm really not a fan of Windows 11).

        Hi Rony,

I just realized that like in MS Word, I can type a font size in the Password Safe font selection drop down (e.g. for View > Change Font > Add/Edit Font I can type a in a font size less than 8, yay!). Problem solved.

Glad you found a solution, since the "blue" space is reserved for showing extra info for base entries and unknown fields, if any.

Right. I also use shortcuts and aliases, so tracking that extra info appears in the area below custom fields. However, I'd still recommend if extra space is there that could be taken out to do so since it could help to prevent the OK, Cancel, Apply, Help buttons from not being visible on screen in some situations.

      A couple more comments/requests.

      1. Re: v3.71.0pre, seems like a "Copy Value" button is needed for a selected custom field.

      2. Re: being able to type in a font value, Word for instance allow me to type in 4.5 for font size, but Password Safe does not allow it. Allowing font size of N.5 (e.g. 7.5) where N integer > 0 would be useful.

      Thanks again.
