AFAIR handling of new Delphi syntax deserves some general changes in the 
PasDoc data model, to allow e.g. for local types. That's why I didn't

1. The recent French translation patch incompatibility clearly indicate
that our last release was done too long ago :) Let's change it. I want
to make PasDoc 0.12.0 release at some point next week.

We don't have *much* new stuff since last 0.11.0 release, but we have
something (see ChangeLog file). And the real goals are to
- Make an official release with new PasDoc_Languages.pas layout (as this
is heavily used by translators) and
- Show that We're Not Dead Yet :)

2. This brings me to the topic of the PasDoc2 branch. Stuff there is
still mostly not applied. The PasDoc_Languages.pas is one of the few
exceptions that actually got applied to trunk from PasDoc2 branch...

Quick test showed that the version from the PasDoc2 branch still fails
on a lot of testcases. This was mentioned e.g. here
https://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/message.php?msg_id=4883125E.2050809%40gmail.com
, and many issues are still not fixed. Some bugs that I've seen still
present: on error_introduction_twice_anchors (not detcted dupl anchors),
ok_abstract_sealed (esp. Range check error, and maybe "Warning:
unhandled section..." is also wrong), ok_back_comment (Range check
error), ok_vorbisfile. See the above mail for details, and run the test
suite (see tests/README) for more.

Even the autodoc fails (cd source/autodoc; make), with
- Such content, "
", is not allowed directly within the tag @orderedlist
- some warnings about unresolved links
- Fatal Error: bad Add mode (PasDoc_Items.pas, line 4169)

So a quick merge PasDoc2->trunk is out of the question.

So I'm trying to merge gradually, changing something to trunk/ and
changing something in branches/PasDoc2/, to eventually make these two
branches equal at the end, and bug-free. As of now, some small changes
were applied, and some were rejected (reverted to trunk state in
branches/PasDoc2/), see SVN commit logs for reasoning.

The really large architectural stuff is not really touched yet, so the
real and big decisions are still ahead.

Help in fixing PasDoc2 branch would be helpful. Please let me do the
final merging to trunk/, but everyone feel welcome to make fixes to
PasDoc2 branch to fix the issues. (Just make sure you do "svn up" often,
to synch with my own changes, as I plan to work intensively on this
within few next days.)

Ideally, autodoc and tests in tests/ subdirectory should proceed
perfectly, and then the incentive to apply the PasDoc2 branch will be
much larger.

Also, a documentation of user-visible improvements in PasDoc2 branch
would be helpful (I mean, a nice wiki page with examples, something
ready to show to users). The PasDoc2 branch supposedly includes
@groupbegin/end support, but I can't really test it since even autodoc
fails. And looking at code --- it's different than the planned usage on
http://pasdoc.sipsolutions.net/MichalisKamburelis#Support_for_groups_of_items
. So I'm not even sure if I want @groupbegin/end implemented this way,
and I don't know of other user-visible improvements from PasDoc2 branch.

I definitely want to decide before the 0.12.0 release what to do with
PasDoc2 branch. Merge what (if any) should be still merged, and
semi-officially "close" the PasDoc2 branch as a finished work. The issue
with applying PasDoc2 branch is hanging over us for ~2 years, so some
decision needs to be made, and then the new development should focus
again on trunk branch.

A small problem: You based your translation on the "stable" PasDoc 0.11.0
sources. The problem is, a lot of code changed since that time. In
particular, the way translations are defined changed (to using
RTransTable), and a lot of other translations were updated.

So applying your changes is a little difficult.

Could you prepare your changes differently: 

1. Get the PasDoc source code from SVN, see
https://sourceforge.net/scm/?type=svn&group_id=4213 . Or just use "Browse
Subversion Repository" link on that page to download the current
trunk/source/component/PasDoc_Languages.pas file.

2. And apply your changes to this code version.

3. Then attach here your modified files.

Thank you in advance -- this will allow me to apply your changes much
easier. Otherwise, it will be some work, and (since I don't know French) I
could break some strings when moving code around.

I agree in general that current @inherited and friends are mainly directed
at single inheritance (without interfaces). More precise idea for a new
tags with interfaces would help clarify this feature requests. (If other

Yeah, and fpdoc uses fcl-passrc. However, fpdoc doesn't read the
documentation strings from the comments, so for it comments may be
simply discarded.

If someone has time to prepare a patch for fcl-passrc so that e.g. some
virtual TPasTreeContainer method is called when a comment is found (this
virtual method would do nothing in TPasTreeContainer, but could be
overridden in descendants to do something more useful, e.g. add the
comment to the last item or store it for the next item) -> it would
surely be accepted by FPC :) There remains only the question who has
time to do it (not me, at least not now :) ).

I hoped that it could be made usable, with a few patches. Lazarus also 
would be happy with it...

Perhaps we can add an option, how to deal with comments. Did you have an 
look at FPDoc?

I have no newer Delphi version at hand. A conversion to Unicode (D2009+) 
may require much work.

When a new parser shall be integrated, it deserves many changes in the 
item classes. I've tried to prepare the documenters to handle the stored 
lists more flexible, but new branches in the source tree (local types, 
interface/implementation) will deserve according implementation in every 
document generator.

Unfortunately, the parser inside the compiler isn't really reusable.

There is a separate package, fcl-passrc, that is a nice reusable
library, but it got implementation support only recently and still
doesn't support all FPC / Delphi features even for the interface.
This is known (see the discussions this month on fpc-pascal list).

I just tested the current version of fcl-passrc on PasDoc testcases, see
my email on fpc-pascal with bugreports:

Well, actually that was kind of promising :), it failed on some
difficult tests but managed to parse a lot of simpler testcases.

For PasDoc we'll also need to modify it to gather the comments and
attach them to the item (following PasDoc' logic of glueing // comments,
back comments by //< and such), currently it just discards the comments
as far as I can see.

Also, if you want to keep PasDoc compileable with Delphi (not only FPC),
you will have to test and eventually fix fcl-passrc compilation with Delphi.

So: I'm all after using fcl-passrc :), but for now we have to use
pasdoc's internal parser.

For this purpose IMO the FPC parser should be used, that tracks the 
Delphi language development as well as the Free Pascal development. 
That's why I stopped working on the implementation of new syntax 
elements in the PasDoc2 parser, including the syntax in the 
implementation section.

PasDoc shows all the functions and procedures (in a unit, and there's a
page generated with all the functions / procedures sorted in a whole
project). However, we show only the interface of the functions, not the
implementation (if that is what you mean by "code").

One reason is that PasDoc cannot parse implementation at all now
(http://pasdoc.sipsolutions.net/WantedFeaturesParsingImplementation),
and the other reason is that it's questionable if we want to include
implementation in the documentation. Although if it was an optional
feature, I would not say no (e.g. Drupal documentation like
http://api.drupal.org/api/function/hook_menu/6 shows the implementation,
and it's helpful when docs and not perfect).
