It's more like a GCC 4.4 (or above) combination with OpenSSL 1.0.0 (or above) that triggers the failure, not one of them alone.

Oh, and also glibc 2.10 (or above) is required :-) Need new enough toolchain to get it bail out in error of wrong constness.
