Hackerspaces

Xer0Dynamite

A hackerspace (also makerspace) is a physical space implementing an emergent model for economic activity. It also (importantly) serves as an innovation center and sanctuary for those of technical bent. It is inspired by MIT's Media Lab and Leonardo. It traditionally uses an ad-hocratic form of governance, but the [Pangaia] project will help form a [Meritocracy] of qualified representation.

The ideal hackerspace has:

  • radical tools available for individuals to make things (like 3-d printers, laser cutters, etc),
  • a presentation space for people to demonstrate what they're working on (w/hi-res projectors),
  • lots of brilliant minds moving in and out of it, forming a nexus of interchange and innovation,
  • lockers and workspaces for those people, and
  • the Pangaia Project in operation, exploiting the power of [Reed's_Law] to hold and build the momentum of those interactions and make the revolution happen.

Oh, and if you're one of the locals, you'll be living in the [Hacker_lofts], streamlining yourself to making a new new livelihood, and perhaps be among those who become space-farers.

What makes this project different from efforts by other hackerspaces? We have the project to make the movement economically sustainable and scale to such a degree that it will transform the whole industrial landscape.
